BoatUS Announces New Underwriter for Marine Insurance Program
March 15, 2013
Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) announces a new insurance company underwriting partner, National Liability & Fire Insurance Company, a member of the Berkshire Hathaway group of insurance companies. The BoatUS Marine Insurance Program, one of the largest recreational boat insurance programs in the country with over $8 billion in insured hull value, has consistently provided broad coverage throughout the United States for over four decades. During that time, only two insurance companies have underwritten the program, the most recent and longest running being Continental Casualty Company (CNA).
BoatUS has developed a transition plan that calls for its members' marine insurance policies to be transitioned from Continental Casualty Company to National Liability & Fire Insurance beginning June 1st, 2013. With National Liability & Fire Insurance Company as the new underwriter, BoatUS continues to be well-positioned to offer Association members comprehensive boat insurance coverage in all areas of the country well into the future. Said BoatUS Marine Insurance Vice President Mike Pellerin, "With an A.M. Best Rating of A++, National Liability & Fire Insurance Company provides our BoatUS members with the highest possible rating for financial strength and security."
Pellerin continued "CNA has been a wonderful partner through the years, and I am confident that we will make this transition a seamless process for our members and Continental Casualty's policyholders. We remain committed to providing BoatUS members with broad coverage and the exceptional service that our members know and deserve."
