Membership Frequently Asked Questions

BoatUS Members enjoy over 25 benefits including discounts at boating businesses, savings with national partners, and the highest level of shopping rewards at West Marine. Members also have access to a number of services such as on water towing services, roadside assistance, marine insurance, and boat financing. Other benefits include representation on Capitol Hill, boat graphics and a subscription to the award-winning BoatUS Magazine

Your Membership and towing services become effective at 11:59pm on the day of payment and will expire 12 months later, on the last day of the month. For example, if you join July 3, your Membership and towing services will expire July 31 the following year.

Yes, you can sign up and authorize your credit card to be charged each year. You will be automatically opted-in for auto bill pay when you join, renew, or upgrade your Membership, and towing services online. You can also enroll by visiting You can then enroll, make changes or cancel as needed. Once enrolled, you will receive an email each year prior to billing and confirmation after your credit card is charged.

When you join, renew or upgrade service you will automatically receive a digital card in your email confirmation. You can also access your digital Membership card within the BoatUS App.

BoatUS Members can choose to receive all BoatUS Membership correspondence (BoatUS Magazine, renewal bills, card kit, etc.) via email, instead of through postal mail. You can enroll in the Membership Paperless program online using any of our Membership applications while joining, renewing or upgrading your towing services.  You can also update your selections by visiting at any time.

Yes, you can add the name of one immediate family member residing in the same household. A Membership card in each name will be mailed to the primary Member.

No, your Membership and towing services follow you on any boat you own, borrow, or charter. If you own more than one boat, you do not need to register each boat with your Membership. They are automatically included, up to your towing service level.

No, BoatUS Memberships are only issued in the boat owner's name, not a boat's name or a business name.

No, Membership and Towing Services are non-transferable. It would be the new owner's responsibility to become a Member.

Our retail partner, West Marine, tracks, prints and issues all West Advantage Gold Rewards Certificates. Please call West Marine Customer Service at 800-262-8464.

If you renewed your Membership or joined through West Marine, your West Advantage Gold Rewards membership is automatically linked to your BoatUS Membership upon activation. If you renewed or joined directly through BoatUS, please email to request to opt into West Marine's rewards program.
