WINCHESTER, Tenn. – May 22, 2026 – Capt. Myles Murray has just expanded his on-water towing assistance operations with the opening of his second TowBoatUS port, TowBoatUS Tims Ford Lake, in Winchester. The port, along with his first location, TowBoatUS Wheeler Lake, are part of North America’s largest on-water towing fleet that responds to more than 100,000 service requests per year, TowBoatUS.

Murray’s new port joins 12 other TowBoatUS locations across the state. With the opening of TowBoatUS Tims Ford Lake, on-water assistance services will support the thousands of boaters who frequent the 10,700 acres of Tims Ford Lake located in south-central Tennessee.

“I grew up on the water with my family, and some of my favorite memories are from those early days boating together. Turning that lifelong passion into a business has been incredibly rewarding,” said Murray. “In a typical week, we handle 10 to 20 tows, so being responsive and dependable for our members is at the heart of what we do. We continue to see a steady demand, not just for emergency help, but for routine on-water assistance, especially from anglers who depend on quick, reliable service.”

TowBoatUS Tims Ford Lake will operate a single red response vessel, a custom Lyman vessel designed specifically for this port and based at Holiday Marina. Separate from providing routine on-water towing services to the more than 8,500 BoatUS members across Tennessee, fuel delivery, battery jumps, and soft ungroundings, the port also offers salvage and recovery services.

Much like an auto club for recreational boat owners, Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) offers on-water towing memberships for $130/year for freshwater. In addition to a BoatUS Towing Membership, members also receive more than 25 valuable BoatUS benefits including a subscription to award-winning BoatUS Magazine, free DSC-VHF radio registration and more.

To request on-water assistance, boaters can call the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Center at 800-391-4869, download the free BoatUS App, which connects boaters to the closest local towing captain, call TowBoatUS Tims Ford Lake directly at 256-520-9466, or hail on VHF radio Ch. 16.
