BRIDGEPORT, Conn., May 13, 2025 – The 24-hour on-water TowBoatUS towing and assistance service for recreational boaters is now open in Bridgeport. The location fills a critical void for owner Tom Vetere, who also owns TowBoatUS ports in Stamford and across the Long Island Sound in Oyster Bay and Northport, New York. His locations provide on-water towing, soft ungrounding, battery jump and fuel drop-off services.

With the opening of the new TowBoatUS location, boaters around Milford and Bridgeport will see decreased response times to requests for on-water assistance. The company homeports a red-and-white 27-foot S.A.F.E. vessel at Bridgeport Harbor Marina.

“Having a response vessel in Bridgeport allows us to fine tune our dispatching and adjust on-water assets as calls come in, shortening response times,” Vetere said.

The new Bridgeport location increases the number of TowBoatUS ports on the Long Island and the Connecticut shore to 17. The TowBoatUS fleet is the largest in the nation with more than 600 towboats at more than 300 locations. Last year more than 113,000 boaters requested on-water assistance from TowBoatUS in the U.S. and Canada.

Much like an auto club for recreational boat owners, Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) offers on-water Unlimited Towing Memberships for saltwater boaters and anglers for just $175 per year. Membership comes with more than 25 valuable BoatUS benefits, including discounts at local fuel docks and transient slips at marinas. Also included are a subscription to BoatUS Magazine, free DSC-VHF radio registration and more.

All the company’s captains are U.S. Coast Guard-licensed. Separate from BoatUS on-water towing, the company also offers boat salvage services.
