ANNAPOLIS, Md., Oct. 19, 2023 – Under a new four-year grant from NOAA’s Marine Debris Removal Program, the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water aims to help rid our nation’s shores of abandoned and derelict vessels (ADVs). To help it reach its goal, the 501(c)(3) Annapolis, Maryland-based nonprofit is soliciting proposals for marketing, public relations and video production services.

“We’re eager to engage strategic partners with demonstrated experience in these professions who can help us raise awareness, educate and drive behavior change about abandoned and derelict vessels and the importance of removing and preventing ADVs on our nation’s coasts and in the Great Lakes,” said BoatUS Foundation director of outreach and grant program manager Alanna Keating.

The majority of the NOAA grant funds will kick-start a competitive grant program from BoatUS Foundation to seek out and complete marine debris removal projects. Project work, to take place over four years and outlined in the requests for proposals (RFPs), include press and educational conferences, social media, ADV database growth, branding and strategy, as well as videos capturing ADV removal projects and documentary production.

The deadline to apply is November 17, 2023. RFPs are available at BoatUS.org/RFP. For additional information visit BoatUS.org/ADVgrant or email cleanwater@boatus.com.
