Rugged purpose-built Quatix 8 adds a built-in speaker and mic with chartplotter voice command capabilities.
Garmin’s newest smart watch is purpose-built for boaters. The metal buttons are leak-proof/inductive, the bezel is titanium, the case is fiber-reinforced polymer with a metal cover, a guard protects sensitive sensors, and the new Quatix 8 is tested to mil-spec standards for shock and temperature resistance. With a new built-in speaker and microphone, you can now answer a call or give voice commands to the chartplotter right from your wrist without leaving the helm. And while you might not do much talking while under the water’s surface, it’s dive-rated to 40 meters (131 feet).
The Quatix 8 changes its look to meet your preferences.
The list of functions the Quatix 8 covers is expansive: it can be used for navigation, to control systems like a bow-mounted Garmin trolling motor or Fusion entertainment system, and it can run a multitude of boating and sailing apps.
The list of sensors is long as well, including GPS, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, altimeter, gyroscopic, accelerometer, thermometer, light, and depth. All the while it also does the things landlubbers use smart watches for, like lifestyle logging, health and wellness alerts, sleep tracking, sending and receiving texts, and playing music through connected headphones. Dedicated features for mariners include data streaming with your boat’s systems, anchor drag alarm, and tide data. Pro models also incorporate inReach capabilities and emergency SOS functionality with Garmin Response.
Oh, and it tells you the time, too.
