The Captain, a new aftermarket camera system, enhances visibility while integrated GPS tracks speed and route, and a built-in DVR records the rides directly to a microSD card.

Even on a small boat, a second set of eyes comes in handy and adds to overall safety. A new aftermarket marine camera system enables the skipper to monitor and record the action from two integrated cameras (mounted just about anywhere, in any direction) with automatic DVR recording. A waterproof HD touchscreen display pairs with most phones (which can then be stowed away) to manage messages, maps, and music from the helm.

The Captain – an all-in-one command center with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration – comes from underwater camera specialists Aqua-Vu.

The versatile cameras can be mounted on just about any flat surface.

The system offers potential safety benefits for skippers:

  • Greater awareness around the boat for safer navigation.
  • Keep swimmers, obstacles, and nearby boats in view.
  • Camera-supported improved visibility in low-light conditions.

A bow-mounted camera makes it easier to line up trailer bunks.

And depending on camera placement, the system can also help boat owners:

  • Line up their boat and trailer perfectly every time.
  • Navigate tight slips and docks with added confidence.
  • Avoid mishaps while docking or loading.

The 7-inch UltraBright HD touchscreen (3 x 7-inch viewing area) is protected by rugged IP67 waterproof housing and includes a built-in DVR to record your rides to a microSD card. The system also includes two HD cameras with 30-foot extension cables and mounting brackets that can be mounted anywhere on the boat. The sealed camera connectors plug directly into the monitor’s wiring harness. Power is standard 12-volt.
