Hello everyone!
We’ve made a few changes to BoatGroups over the past few months, but today they are finally noticeable. Below is a list of
changes to BoatGroups:
1) Additional steps to block spammers, as well as a system to make sure spammers are less likely to return.
2)A whole new skin, which is designed to be easier on the eyes, and more similar to the rest of the BoatUS website.
3) A ladder system. Each post you make gets you closer to the next group. Groups are broken down in this order:
a. Seaman Recruit (Starting Group)
b. Seaman (20 posts)
c. Deckhand (100 posts)
d. Navigator (300 posts)
e. First Mate (500 posts)
f. Lieutenant (750 posts) [Edited to represent correct number of posts] g. Commander (1000 posts)
h. Admiral (3000 posts)
i. Fleet Admiral (5000+ posts)
New to the forum? Welcome! There is a wealth on information within this website. You can find your boat manufacturer
using the top or left navigation bars. If you are the first within your manufacturer, don’t be afraid to make the first post. All
it takes is one person and more will come once the word gets out. So keep posting, keep it boating, and have fun out on
the water!

Maybe you are still working on the site but I cannot find the list of different boat forums, I don't go to others often but every now and then I do.

A couple of strange things happening. 1. When I first came here today I went to post a reply and had to login, when I did the forum changed on me and I posted to the same thread but in the Chris Craft forum not the SeaRay forum. 2. I made the post above and posted it and was taken to the News page and could not post there. 3. Every time this happens I have to go out and come back in to get back to the SeaRay forum.

It will not let me go back and edit my post so I have to start another. When I clicked on Post Reply I wound up at Homepage News again. I see the list of manufacturers is showing up now.

Midway, thanks for your feed back about the forum
change.
This post is in all threads, so Sea Ray or Christ Craft, you'll
see this News page.
It seems that the permissions for everyone reset when the
site changed, I am in the process of putting everything
back to the way it was. Only admin are aloud to post or
reply within the homepage news forum. You can reply to
this post through a manufacturer group tho. I'm not sure
why it's like that, but I'm still figuring out this forum works
myself.
I'll keep going through the permissions to make sure you
are able to reply, and it stops redirecting you to the
incorrect area.
I'm sorry for this inconvenience.

No problem, the posts were meant as feedback so you would know things that were happening. I don't do websites but I work with computers, software and users every day and know the only way you know what is going on at times is for someone to let you know. Thanks and keep up the good work.

And I appreciate your posts very much, because yes,
everyones posts are the only way I know how the forum is
acting and looking for the members. I do have other names,
but I don't use them like you do. So any and all feedback,
good and bad, is greatly appreciated. If there is something
wrong I will work to fix it. I appreciate anything any member
has to contribute.
Thanks!

Hi Boatman... Thanks, I appreciate it!
The problem you're experiencing is part of our "anti-spamming" configuration. Currently, you can't make another post within 20 seconds of your first, and you can't make more than 5 posts in 7 minutes. If you have made 5 posts (in 7 minutes), then you'll be allowed to post again once you're first post is older than 7 minutes. You were temporarily "blocked" from posts on page 118 because you made 5 posts in 3 minutes, which would put you inside the 7 minute rule.
I really hope this hasn't been confusing. We have to keep this configuration because people do spam forums, and not allowing them unlimited posts help keeps the damage to a minimum. I am talking to the programmers to see if we can do something different for those members who we know are here in person and not automatically posting thru a spam-bot. If we are able to do anything "special" I will be certain to let the community know.

Hey there Brian,
Tom from the CC Catalina group...
I keep getting site generated emails from this person in Argentina who is trying to post in the Catalina thread but his posts are not showing. Anything you can do to help them?
Thanks, Tom

Thank you for this information Tom. I have emailed CCPIRAY I; hopefully it wasn't a problem with our software and he can join you and the other Catalina owners soon.
Thanks

I'd like to move this post here:
Five new manufacturers have been added to the Boat Groups forum! They include: Dargel (company site) located here in the forum. Evans (company site) located here in the forum. Heritage East located here in the forum. Transpac (or Transpacific. Company site) located here in the forum. Malibu (company site) located here in the forum. If you know of any other manufacturers not listed in this forum, please let me know and I will make sure it can bee added to the list!
Thanks, and Happy Boating!

Hello Boatman66! Boy I wish I was out on the water. Lingering/threatening storms all day kept us inside. But first we have to get the boat summarized
You bring up a great question, because a video section is something we want to do. Before we can do a video section, we have the photo gallery that we have placed as a priority for the forum. However, we too have been hitting barriers with it. As of now I don't have an ETA. But I wanted to let you know we haven't forgotten about it tho.
Keep the suggestions coming tho! Please feel free to leave any comments in this thread or by emailing me directly.

brian,
i have returned from a brief forum vacation to find the changes that have been implemented but i am confused.
first i was an active member and contributer to what i knew as the chris craft 251 owners forum. i posted easily 50 times if not more.
why can't i find it? has it been somehow combined into a new forum?
i often looked back at the foorum i was posting on to get information and ideas from the numerous posts etc.
please let me know if i am looking in the wrong place or why for some reason i am starting from the beginning.
bob

Hi Bob,
I see that you have bob&sandy on the my.boatus.com/forum with 50
posts, could that have been where you used to post for the Chris
Chraft 251 thread? A while ago (before I came to BoatUS) we opened
this new forum for MessageBoard members to hold their "owners
group" threads, and give BoatGroups members a place to ask specific
questions about their boat to other owners of the same/similar boat.
There are two active threads within the ChrisCraft section: Catalina
Owners and Murray Chris Craft Constellation. Would either of those
threads describe your boat?
And I'm sorry your post count here does match your 50 posts from
the MessageBoards, but we were unable to link the names to
combine your post count, that's a limitation of running two different
forums with linked usernames.

Brian,
thanks for the reply... i was unaware of the difference but now that you have explained i see. kind of silly to have these in a different place.
i guess i need to monitor both places.
