Well after many years of searching and thousands of dollars spend, I finally bought my own 1989 Thompson Daytona 250, identical to the one I grew up on.  Bought it from Superior, WI and had it shipped to Annapolis, MD (I am in the Coast Guard so I travel a bit).  This boat is really the best boat I have ever been on!  People give Thompsons a lot of crap due to quality issues, but this boat has 200 original hours, sat on a trailer most of its life, so she is solid like a rock.  Unfortunately, the marina I bought it from failed to tell me it had a cracked block so it also has a new long block, exhaust manifolds, etc.  I plan on have the bottom soda blasted to remove the bottom paint and putting some VC Performance Epoxy to give it a clean look (it will always be dry stored as long as I own it).  I think I found 1 small pin hole in the original vinyl seats.  I have had the boat top out a 41mph, it has a lot of heart.  Many people don't realize how nice these boats are until you have been on one.  Ever try driving a 80's Sea Ray Sundancer or any cruiser with an aft cabin, good luck if you have any knee issues or want to stand up and drive, Thompson decided to focus on driver comfort rather than ensuring the aft cabin (used rarely by kids) was comfortable.  The cabin on this boat is about the same size at the new 30 footers, the cockpit is very spacious as well, better than new boat's where the sun pad takes up have of the square footage on the boat.   I am working slowly but surely to update and fix this boat to make it better than new.  Anyways, thought I would put in my 2 cents, I LOVE THIS BOAT!

Welcome to the forum,,Nice boat. You are right that the Thompson boats are very comfortable to drive and roomy. I have a 310 Daytona and love it,, handles like a charm and lifts right out when you need it and sails comfortable on rough water.

Send some more pics if you can,,curious about he layout inside.

All,

Thank you for the warm welcome!  It is really the best boat I have ever owned/operated.  It has a Merc 350 w/Alpha 1 spinning a 15" X 17" stainless, at 4650 RPM.  I am going to to have the bottom soda blasted and repainted with some VC Performance Epoxy to give it a new look.  I also plan on adding some teak windshield trim as many of the Thompsons had, you can buy teak trim to pre cut 5 foot lengths.  I also plan on taking out the screws out of the hull/deck joint and putting bolts to tighten it up a bit.  I am sure I will have questions, thanks for the support and will keep you posted on progress.

Jon
