Hey everyone I'm trying to plan a trip with my boat before summer is over completely.  I have a 205 Carerra, and I'm really not sure on the fuel usage since I just got this boat a few weeks ago.  So my question to all of you are what engine setup do you have and boat and whats the approx fuel usage so I may be able to guestemate where i'll need to stop for fuel.  Thanks...

Mine is an 88 Daytona 300 ~ 29 feet - twin 350/260hp Alph 1 gen 2 legs - I get ~ 15 gph (combined) when cruising @ 3200rpm and 32-35 mph

flip side of that is to calculate no more then 2 MPG and monitor the first few re-fills.  then you can better establish your usage based on speed and load.

I have a carerra 205 its 20 1/2 foot long with a 305 (5.0lx) and it has the alpha one outdrive

i think that was very good advice and a great starting place that Don mentions.

it may end up being slightly better then that. what kind of GPS do you run?

also you may want to consider a fuel monitering device....mine is built into the Navman plotter so it shows right on the screen

I am using an EAGLE, but 90% of my runs are line of site to reference points.  I was looking into fuel monitoring system, but i hope to trade up in a few years???  don't want to over invest in the boat, no return.

 

I found that if i stay under 3500 I can get close to 3 mpg. so with a 60 gal tank, i can do a lot of short runs.
