I own a 2004 560 Pilot house & my mexhanic just told me that there was inadequate ventillation in the engine room & cockpit  causing air to be sucked in through the vents on both sides of the stern. This draws in sea spray (salt mist) when running & therefore excessive corrosion !. Carver said they they are "aware" of the problem but theri only suggestuion was " better owner maintenance) or some sort of fabric cover to exclude moisture dropplets> Has anyone else encountered this ?

WHy not put in an air scoop to allow you to draw in more fresh air, if that is the problem? I have the 570 & except for the Air Intakes on the rear wings it's about the same boat. I don't have this problem at all?

Look at these items:

Vetus Mushroom Ventilators.

Perko Boat Cowl Vents

Do an online search they come in different sizes & don't look bad.

Bruce, what engines do you have & how do you like the 56?

I've been pretty happy with mine.
