I have a 1995 300 express cruiser and have developed a water leak froman unknown source.  Water builds up in the bilge area beside the water tank, Can not find the source. checked tank, no apparent lines leaking.  first noticed wet carpet in front of entry steps? any suggestions?

I had a similar problem on my 270DA. I would only get water in the bilge when it rain and I had it in a covered slip except the front three feet of the bow. I had to seal the entire rub rail on the one side to get the water to stop coming in behind the holding tank area. It now remains dry all the time. You may try that as it runs down the joint to a low spot then drop off.

Had a pesky hard to find leak on my 270 amberjack. Wet carpet just like you mentioned.

The problem was a loose compression fitting on the a/c drip pan. Tightened as best I could, then put silicone inside and out. The sump has been dry since.

you might check water getting around the nav lights, especially if changed lately, or where safety rails are mounted to the deck.

although not an answer to finding the leak, you may consider installing a rule computer controlled bilge pump that kicks on every 2.5 minutes. if it senses resistance it keeps pumping, if not it cuts off. Beats the wet carpet problem while looking for the leak.
