Has anybody had the need to replace their canvas tops? Do you happen to know the vendor that supplies Doral or does Doral make their own. My current canvas has a vinyl liner on the underside of the top and I'm having trouble finding a company that has the same product. Thanks for you help.
My canvas did not fit - was not able to be snapped in many spots since the boat was purchased new 1 year ago. The dealer got warranty replacements from Doral - they were just installed 4 weeks ago (yes, 1 year after boat delivery and my request they be corrected - not so speedy to say the least), they don't fit.
That at least means that Doral in at least my case for the Elegante can supply replacement canvas. My experience was not good since they don't fit. Already lost a $400 camera to water leaking into the cockpit area and soaking my Sony digital camera 2 weeks ago. I am going to either contact Doral again or see if the dealer (no longer a Doral dealer as of this year) will do something. I don't feel I should pay for custom canvas for a new boat that came with canvas that was too short and the snaps did not line up.
I was able to replace the tops for mine through Doral. However there is a time limit where they no longer can get them and they are a bit more expensive. The Product you need is a SunBrella material. You should be able to have one made. I think you can research online.
I have not yet replaced the top. Still in good shape and I have had several seams in my top redone with Tenara thread which holds up quite well.They requested the HIN from the boat and offered a quote. It was around 2K for complete replacement which seems fairly reasonable.
I received a price from GMI. It was around $2200cnd which I thought was a good price also. My top is in pretty good shape with the exception of a couple of seams coming undone so I'm not sure I want to spend this much now but since I like my toys to look like new I just might do it.
I'm curious to know how you found out that GMI supplies Doral with their tops. I had noticed another company on the web called International Canvas and they had some of the same pictures in their brochure as GMI. Are they the same company do you know?
Like I said I had the seams resewn with Tenara they will now outlast the top! Actually found out by talking with Will Monson (NH Doral) used to be a dealer for doral in NH. I contacted GMI directly and they were great and I thought their price to be quit reasonable. Dont know about the relataionship between the two companies - if any.
Well I just ordered a new top from GMI. Since we don't know what we my face in the future with the economy, we have decided to keep the boat we have and make it look new again. I should have the new top in 2-3 weeks. Just in time for the season. I will let you know how it fits once it's on.

Topic: Canvas replacement.
It looks great. I matched up some of the new panels with the old ones and the snaps lined up. Can't wait for spring.
