I believe I would look for the closed dome with 4kw and about 24". The intrigue arch will support it ok. I have a JRC on mine that I do not like. Many people do. My past experience is with a 64 mile Furuno that would cost about ten times as much as the JRC and I guess I was spoiled with it's ability. Probably not a fair comparison. Yet at the same time it is not imposible to spend a million bucks on a radar. (Military) What this may tell you is to get all you can afford. However, spending the money is only the start as knowing how to use it is most important. I once attended a class in NYC that was designed for the professional mariner in using the radar on ocean going ships. The class originally was designed to cover several weeks of daily classes to teach only radar. It had been reduced to just a couple of weeks and the instructors felt they were not accomplishing there jobs properly. Yet we as recrecational boaters expect the radars we buy to keep us out of trouble almost immediatley.
