Does anyone have any experience with getting an extended warranty on a Doral? I just purchased a new 2005 Elegante and haven't taken delivery yet.

I suppose you could get an extended warranty through FPC, maybe their cruiser package?

I have the plan for the engines, got the dealer to throw that in. They're covered until 2012.

Ok, I will reply to my own post - Contacted Merc - since Doral is not a certified Merc powerplant installer they do not double the warranty as they do with sea ray, crownline, donzi, and many many others.  If Doral was, they would double the 1 year warranty to 2 years.

Merc will sell you an extended warranty for a total warranty period of up to 6 years (including the original warranty which for a Doral is 1 year).  So, you can add up to 5 more years.  It is about $1000 per engine per year, with a slight discount for multiple years - getting an extension of the warranty for 5 years for twins is about $8000.  I wonder if it is worth it.  As I understand it  - Doral's 2nd year of the warranty is parts only so I suppose as for the engine and drive you get kind of a limited 2 year warranty on the  engine and drive - just no labor or haul out in the second year.
