Topic: soft spot flybridge deck

For an older boat its in great shape. The flybridge however, has a soft spot where the old seat was mounted. Is there a good way to repair it without tearing out the glass to replace the core? I saw west marine sells git rot does that really work? I also cant find and specs or docummentation for my boat since its so old. Any ideas? This is my first boat bigger than a 17' runaboat and learning the maintenance is alot  more work and money but having a good time figuring this all out.
