I am considering the purchase of a 34 year old Tartan 41.  I am concerned at just what is the functional life of a boat.  I am aware that many many factors come into play when dealing with how old a used boat really is in actual age vs. condition.   But, there seems to be a point in time when age overtakes any and all maintenance efforts for any boat requiring a full rebuild to regain functionality of the boat.

 

Is buying a 34 year old boat an exercise in masochism?

 

I am looking for advise, please.
