Rookie questions...I know nothings black and white on this stuff, but any opinions on this model...also,what is a rough estimate of the life span of a mercury 454 300hp, cost to rebuild , cost to replace... Thanks everyone...

hey bonne---didn't see your post till just now...guess my notification thingamajig aint werkin!

tons of variations on that question--454 is a great engine and will easily reach 1500? hours? heard stories of much more---if mistreated ...a few hundred...??

are you fresh water or salt? risers and manifolds been replaced regularily? flush after each use? fresh or raw water cooled? what are you pushin with it?

give us some more details on what boat you have and where you run etc etc..
