BoatUS Government Affairs
Since its founding in 1966, BoatUS has been the voice of recreational boat owners on Capitol Hill and before the federal agencies in Washington. With the strength of over half a million members behind us, our mission has been to fight unfair federal taxes, fees and regulations that single out boat owners and to work with state agencies to promote boating laws that make sense.
- Bipartisan legislation introduced by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) would help ensure recreational boaters don’t put unsafe fuel in their boats. BoatUS is urging all boaters to contact their US Representative asking they support H.R. 704 - The Renewable Fuel Standard Reform Act of 2015. Read more
- The Florida 2015 legislative session is underway, with several bills that you should know about. BoatU.S. is actively engaged with state lawmakers to ensure that active, responsible boaters will continue to enjoy the Sunshine State. Contact your state senator and representative now to weigh-in. - Rail service has been proposed to run between Miami and the Orlando. The Coast Guard is conducting a navigational survey of the waterways that could be affected by this new service.
- Proposed in 2013, the U.S. Coast Guard has finalized its plans to charge $26 per year for the renewal of certificates of documentation. Change goes into effect November 10th, 2014.
