February Trailering Issue and Navigation

Just a note to say what a fine issue this is. As a trailerboater myself, I'm always on the lookout for good, practical information. (And as a frequent visitor to Cape May, I especially enjoyed your piece on that town.)

One mild suggestion: If you're approaching another boat nose-to-nose, a horn signal is most likely to elicit one of two reactions. A friendly skipper will just wave and smile; most will give you an interdigital gesture that translates to "Who you beepin' at, Jack?"

Better to swing your bow 45 degrees to starboard or port, slow down, and wait for the other boat to react. Works for me.
