The Boat Trailering Guys
What are your feelings about the trailer flush systems where a garden hose is attached. My trailer is in salt water all the time. I pull the brakes off once a year to check for corrosion. Is the flush system enough? Is there anything else I can be doing?

MIKE: The flush kits are a must when using drum brakes in salt water. You are also doing the right thing by pulling the brakes annually to inspect them for corrosion. Since you have them off, coat the moving parts with oil or grease, but don't get it on the brake shoes or inside of the drum. Consider converting to disc brakes, they are easier to rinse and have fewer moving parts.
