The Trailer Boat Experts
What is your opinion of pivoting bunks on a trailer? There are four of them, instead of two and this all seems new to me. I'm looking for opinions before I decide. C. Bromley, Ellsworth, ME

GEORGE: I'm not familiar with pivoting bunks but there are many designs of bunk trailers in which the bracket holding the bunk can move up or down and swivel to the hull's particular shape. The important issue is that the hull is adequately supported and if it takes a pivoting bunk to do it, then that's what you need to have. MIKE: The more support points you have, the better the weight distribution will be over the hull of the boat. This will help avoid single point loading which can be damaging to the outer skin of your boat. Pivoting bunks can be beneficial on ramps with a gradual slope as the bunks will allow the boat to unload (or load) at less of an angle.
