Regarding trailering clips designed for I/Os, just how are they to be used? Are they just a precautionary device? T. Dilbruck Louisville, KY.

MIKE: The trailering clips are fitted over the hydraulic arms of the trim/tilt mechanism of the outdrive. They take the strain off of the hydraulic chambers and the seals. They also prevent excessive bouncing, which reduces stress on the transom. I would recommend the use of these devices.
