Question

Boat Trailering Guys,

I have a 1988 carver mariner 2897 which weighs 10.5k dry. Probably 13.5k wet. Will I damage the boat / hull by leaving it on a bunk type trailer or bunk style boat lift for storage. How long can a hull take this type of out of the water storage? Thanks, Mike R

The short answer is the boat will be fine for a few months stored as you plan to do. The longer answer is this is a question best answered by the folks at Carver--the manufacturer of your boat. That said, if the bunk trailer is designed for the hull, you're going to have no noticeable problem storing it for a few months. After that amount of time, however, the focus has to be on the trailer. The tires may develop "bald spots" from sitting in one position for a long period of time. The bearings are going to have to be inspected prior to any trip on the road because they haven't moved for a long time. The brakes are going to need to be checked. But the first stop should be the boat manufacturer. They built it so they'll have the answer.
