Question

Boat Trailering Guys:,

What about transom savers? I've heard a lot of pros and cons. There is a product called "m-y-wedge" and of course, "Swviel Ease." Do I need one of these? I have a 21' Seaswirl with a 150hp Yamaha and will do quite a bit of trailering.

I can't think of a con relating to transom savers other than perhaps it adds another step of preparation. My opinion is that the extra step is well worth it when you consider the prevention of damage to your transom or hydraulics. My preference of transom savers are those that provide support from the trailer to the motor because they take the weight off of both the transom and the hydraulics cylinders.
