BoatUS is proud to be a sponsor of the 63rd Annual Newport to Ensenada Yacht Race.
The race begins Friday April 23, 2010 off Newport Beach, California where over 400 sailboats of every class take on the challenging 125 Nautical Mile trek across Pacific swells in hopes of reaching the finish line just outside the harbor of Ensenada, Mexico.
Following the race, thousands of crew, family and friends of the participants will celebrate with a fiesta at the Bahia Hotel in Ensenada. An awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 25th.
Pre-race seminars will be held at Yacht Clubs from Ventura to San Diego, March 3rd thru the 25th to assist participants with racing rules and procedures. BoatUS staff will be on hand speaking about the Benefits to race participants that they are providing. These great Benefits include:
- A discount on Unlimited and Unlimited Gold Memberships for the racers.
- VESSEL ASSIST towboats will accompany the fleet South in order to be close by, should any problems arise. In addition they will help the race committee ensure all boats are accounted for at the finish.
- BoatUS will be offering participants of the Newport to Ensenada Race a discounted rate on our EPIRB rentals. The EPIRB will give them the security knowing that in an emergency, they can set the EPIRB off, notifying the United States Coast Guard immediately. - For the first time ever, the friends and family of race participants will be able to track the progress of that boat throughout the race online by purchasing SPOT Assist. The partnership between SPOT and BoatU.S. will also allow Member’s who purchase a SPOT unit to request non-emergency towing assistance at the touch of a button.
