ALEXANDRIA, Va. December 1, 2010 – BoatUS Magazine, the largest circulation boating publication in the nation, announces the addition of four top-notch technical writers to its writing team.

Award winning writer, electronics expert, book author and accomplished sport-fisherman Lenny Rudow joins the magazine as the new electronics editor.

Also, the trio of American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) Vice President/Technical Director John Adey, boat care expert Don Casey and well-known author and liveaboard Tom Neale are the new contributing editors on the magazine’s “Ask the Experts” team, tasked to answer the wide range of questions put forth by readers.

“Starting with our February 2011 issue, BoatUS Magazine will have one of the strongest technical teams in marine journalism,” said BoatUS Magazine Publisher Nancy Michelman. “Lenny is very well respected in the industry and has impeccable credentials. However, it was his deep understanding of modern marine electronics and his keen ability to accurately explain them to broad audiences that led us to bring him aboard. We’ve seen him help boaters get more out of their boating or fishing and that’s the kind of voice that appeals to our readers.”

A Westlawn School of Yacht Design graduate, Rudow has chalked up 18 Boating Writers International writing awards, two Outdoor Writers Association of America awards, written five books and held various top editorial roles at Boating Magazine for nearly 16 years. The prolific freelance writer has also appeared in Soundings, SEA, Saltwater Sportsman, Passagemaker, Consumer Reports and Marlin, among others. He’s also been a National Marine Manufacturers Association Innovation Award judge.

Michelman continued, “Combined, our new contributing editors have over nine decades of experience that our readers will be able to tap into. Adding these types of editorial resources ensures BoatUS Magazine provides an engaging experience for our 525,000 members and readers.”

John Adey is technical director for the boat-building standards organization, ABYC, and is known among his peers to be a trusted source of technical information for industry professionals. He’s had a diverse experience in the marine industry, including chandleries, yacht brokerage and boatyards, and is also an online “Ask the Expert” at BoatUS.com.

For over three decades Don Casey has been one of the most consulted experts in boat care and is currently the most sought-after expert on the BoatUS online “Ask the Experts” forum. Books include Don Casey’s Complete Illustrated Sailboat Maintenance Manual and the recently updated This Old Boat, known as the bible among do-it-yourselfers.

Tom Neale and his family have lived aboard their Gulfstar motorsailer since 1979. He’s been on the masthead of Cruising World and is also a technical editor at Soundings. An extensive cruiser, he’s also author of the acclaimed All in the Same Boat as well as the Chesapeake Bay Cruising Guide, Vol. 1.
