LAKE EUFAULA, Okla., October 5, 2018 – Traditionally on Lake Eufaula when a boat has broken down, run aground, run out of fuel, or needed a tow back to the launch ramp, the vessel’s owner has had to rely on good Samaritans for help. With the recent opening of TowBoatUS Lake Eufaula, a 24-hour on-water towing and assistance service, boaters no longer have to worry if someone is going to stop.
Captain Ross Baker, owner of TowBoatUS Lake Eufaula, grew up on boats and has more than 30 years of professional experience on the water. After 15 years as a licensed captain in the sportfishing industry in California, Baker moved to Arizona and found his way to TowBoatUS, first working as a captain for the company and then eventually opening his first TowBoatUS location on Lake Pleasant.
Lake Eufaula is the largest lake in the state of Oklahoma, so Baker saw the need to expand his professional on-water towing service to help boaters get safely home when problems arise.
“Lake Eufaula is a giant lake with giant opportunity,” said Baker. “It has a surface area of 105,000 acres and draws a huge bass fishing community that stays busy even in the off season. TowBoatUS Lake Eufaula adds a level of professionalism in getting boaters safely back to their docks no matter what problems they might run into.”
Much like an auto club for boaters, BoatUS offers on-water Unlimited Towing Memberships for boaters and anglers for just $72 per year. Boaters without BoatUS towing services face costs that average $750 per towing incident, with some paying into the thousands out of pocket.
As with any waterway, Lake Eufaula has its share of routine breakdowns due to bad fuel, a dead battery, or other mechanical issues. TowBoatUS Lake Eufaula looks forward to working with local law enforcement to provide the best and most reliable service to boaters in the area who experience these typical problems on the water.
“The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Division is very happy to have us here,” said Baker. “We’re excited to keep a good working relationship with them to ensure boaters have a reliable means of routine assistance should they ever need it.”
TowBoatUS Lake Eufaula operates a 22-foot McKee Craft center-console boat with a Yamaha 225 outboard. The company’s second vessel is a 24-foot Mako center console with twin Honda 150 outboards. Both response vessels are rigged for towing, jump-starts, fuel delivery and soft ungroundings, and are easily recognizable by their red hulls and TowBoatUS logos emblazoned in bright white letters on their sides. Both boats are kept at Eufaula Cove Marina, a very central location on the lake for fast response times.
Boaters can reach TowBoatUS Lake Eufaula by hailing on VHF channel 16, by calling the company directly at (918) 404-7322, by phoning the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Center at (800) 391-4869, or via smartphone using the BoatUS App. More information can be found at www.BoatUS.com/Membership, or by calling (800) 395-2628.
