ALEXANDRIA, Va., September 3, 2009 – Elio Betty, former National Sales Manager for Soundings Publications LLC, has joined Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) as Director of Advertising for BoatUS Media.

Betty was formerly responsible for advertising sales of Soundings magazine’s National Section and Waterfront Real Estate sections, as well as the company’s Custom Publishing operation. Previously he has held positions as a yacht rigger, harbormaster and owned a small business.

Betty will oversee sales efforts of the recently relaunched BoatUS Magazine , which has undergone significant design and editorial improvements led by Consulting Editor Bernadette Bernon, a former editor of Cruising World.

“The changes we have made to BoatUS Magazine have been well received in the industry and also resulted in our recent APEX award for editorial and design,” said BoatUS President and Publisher Nancy Michelman.  “Our 600,000 readers are passionate boat owners who have become more highly engaged with our new dynamic layout, great in-house and freelance writing, and photography from the best names in boating.  We are the publication our members trust to bring them the news and information they need to stay informed and get the most out of their boating.
