ALEXANDRIA, Va. August, 20, 2009 – BoatUS Angler , a membership program that offers services and representation to boat owning anglers, is beefing up its stable of top angling experts with the addition of Capt. Doug “Butch” Rickey to the “Ask the Experts” team. Capt. Rickey, a saltwater guide in Southwest Florida, joins freshwater guide Capt. Steve Chaconas as the program’s “go-to” guys for sharing fishing knowledge.
“Since we started our new BoatUS Angler membership program in 2006, our angling members have asked for more information on saltwater fishing,” said BoatUS Angler Director Mike Pellerin. “With Butch now joining Steve, we can help answer just about any question a member may have, whether its about landing more fish, trailering, or fishing rig topics.” Anglers can review questions and answers from Butch or Steve at my.BoatUS.com/AskExperts .
Capt. Rickey was born on Amelia Island, Florida, in 1945 and caught his first fish, a sheephead, at the Fernandina Beach pier, at age eight. As a young boy, he moved with his family to the Ft. Myers area, where he grew up on Captiva and Sanibel Islands. While he has spent most of his life fishing up and down the west coast of Florida, he’s also fished waters as far away as Hawaii. He’s a guest host on local TV fishing shows including “The Capt. Mel Berman Show,” starred in the video “How To Catch Redfish,” and written numerous articles for several fishing magazines. His web site, www.barhoppr.com, and his weekly fishing reports are widely respected among Florida anglers.
