What do you do at BoatUS?

I work in government affairs representing the interests of boaters like you before Congress, with the EPA and the Fish & Wildlife Service. I also monitor and weigh- in on state and local boating issues when they set a dangerous precedent.

What is the most unusual phone call or assignment you've been given while at BoatUS?

I attended a meeting at the L.A. Times to brief their editorial staff on the status of the Renewable Fuel standard and the unintended consequences of E15. It was really interesting to share the boater perspective and look at the east/west coast perception of the RFS.

What's your favorite thing to do while boating?

I was born into a very competitive water-skiing family. We all love to ski and now I get to pass the love for the water and watersports on to my children. It’s a magical legacy and I’m thankful to my parents for passing it down.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

My folks live on Buggs Island Lake on the VA/NC border and that’s where we do the majority of our boating. It’s my favorite place in the states. My husband is a native of New Zealand, so if we are abroad, you can find us on the Coromandel Peninsula at Whangamata Beach.
