Federal Regulation Security Reminder

Boaters are reminded that federal regulation contain specific requirements when operating in the vicinity of naval vessels, oil tankers and cruise ships.

• You may not approach within 100 yards of any U.S. naval vessel, oil tanker or cruise ship. When this is impossible to avoid, you must contact either the vessel itself or the Coast Guard escort vessel on your VHF radio. (Channel 16)
• You must operate at minimum speed within 500 yards of these vessels.
