to establish aluminum recycling at five popular marinas on Lake
Lanier. Ostego Bay Foundation Ft. Myers Beach, FL, to produce 10,000
brochures on oil spill prevention and assemble 120 small spill prevention
kits that include fuel absorbent materials to distribute at boater
workshops and boat shows.
Natural
Resources Protective Association Staten Island, NY, to
hold regular cleanups to remove trash from salt marshes, tidal wetlands,
and beaches, enhance wildlife areas and reduce the hazard of floating
debris to boaters in the Great Kills Harbor area.
Boat
Owners Association of Tennessee Elizabethton, TN, to control
shore line erosion in Watauga Lake by laying down rolls of special
material made from coconut fiber, helping stabilizing plants to
grow and protect the shore.
Calusa
Cruise Club New Port Richey, FL, to hold frequent cleanups
of Anclote Key, a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico, and educate
boaters about the local environment by putting up signs around the
island.
Absecon
Island Power Squadron Absecon, NJ, to produce 10 signs
informing boaters about cleanup activities on local rivers.
Keep
Manatee Beautiful, Inc.(KMB) Bradenton, FL, to install
three kiosks at marinas and boat ramps throughout Manatee County
that provide information on marine pollution and other environmental
topics.
