Application Deadline Has Passed.

The Foundation awards local volunteer organizations up to $5,000 for the promotion of boating safety education. The deadline to submit applications was November 1, 2003.  To receive notification of the 2005 Boating Safety Grant application, please sign up for the Foundation E-Newsletter.

Over the past 15 years the foundation has awarded over $570,000 to local community organizations, yacht clubs, flotillas and squadrons. The Foundation is looking for creative and innovative projects that promote safe boating on your local waterway. Topics can range from literature on the affects of boating under the influence to signs at boat ramps telling users about free vessel safety checks.

This year, in light of recent studies and reports, the Foundation is putting a special emphasis on carbon monoxide poisoning education. “This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Whether you are on your house boat or out water skiing this problem could affect you”, said Chris Edmonston, Director of Boating Safety Programs. The Foundation encourages applications with an emphasis on carbon monoxide education, but will accept all applications covering any boating safety topic.
