Lady's Island Bridge Two Hour Notice for Openings, Night Closure:
The Lady's Island (Woods Memorial) Bridge (32.427443° -80.669185°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 536.0, Beaufort, South Carolina has been placed on a two hour advance notification for openings, due to repairs. These restrictions will be in place until August 30, 2013.
As the contractor has found additional problem with the bridge machinery they have requested the parts that are anticipated to arrive by July 28th, 2013. For this reason the Lady's Island Bridge will be allowed to remain closed from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. seven-days a week from July 29 through August 21, 2013. The two hour advance notice for an opening remains in effect during all other times. (7th District LNM Week 27/2013)*

Maintenance Dredging Sawpit Creek, Nassau Sound Areas:
1. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District cautions mariners, property owners, and the public to be mindful of maintenance dredging operations in the AIWW channel and settling basins in Cuts 24-26A, 27, 27A, 27C; and adjoining advance maintenance areas in the waters of Sawpit Creek, the Amelia River, and Nassau Sound (30.522331° -81.456127°). Work is anticipated to commence on or about 15 July 2013.
2. The Dredge Operator will standby on channels 13 and 16 VHF-FM. Traffic should call 30 minutes prior to expected time of passage....

Shoaling Update, Bakers Haulover Inlet AICW:
Severe shoaling continues to encroach the ICW near Bakers Haulover Inlet. The shoaling has been reported most severe in the vicinity of Biscayne Bay Buoy 7B (LLNR 47828) (25-54-11.963N, 080-07-47.682W) and extends west beyond the approximate center of the channel. As of June 20, 2013 the available channel depth at high tide was recorded to be 3.5 to 4 feet between Biscayne Bay Buoy 7B (LLNR 47828) and the west side of the channel. The area is subject to frequent changes in depth and direction due to the shifting shoals. Mariners are advised to exercise extreme caution, seek local knowledge when transiting the area, and use an alternate route when necessary. (7th District LNM Week 26/2013)*

Environmental Impact Study, Port Ambrose Deepwater Port:
The Maritime Administration (MarAd), in coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), will prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) as part of the environmental review of the Port Ambrose Deepwater Port License Application. The application describes an offshore natural gas deepwater port facility that would be located approximately 17 nautical miles southeast of Jones Beach, New York, 24 nautical miles east of Long Branch, New Jersey, and about 27 nautical miles from the entrance to New York Harbor in a water depth of approximately 103 feet. Publication of this notice begins a 30 day scoping process that will help identify and determine the scope of environmental issues to be addressed in the EIS. This notice requests public participation in the scoping process, provides information on how to participate, and announces informational open houses and public meetings in New York and New Jersey. Pursuant to the criteria provided in the Deepwater Port Act of 1974, as amended, 33 U.S.C. 1501 et seq. (the Act), both New Jersey and New York are the Adjacent Coastal States for this application.
DATES: There will be two public scoping meetings held in connection with the application. The first public meeting will be held in Long Beach, New York on July 9, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The second public meeting will be held in Edison, New Jersey on July 10, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both public meetings will be preceded by an open house from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each of the public meetings may end later than the stated time, depending on the number of persons wishing to speak. Additionally, materials submitted in response to the request for comments on the license application must reach the Docket Management Facility as detailed below, by July 23, 2013.

No More Coast Guard on SSB 2182 kHz:
Effective August 1, 2013, the U.S. Coast Guard will terminate its radio guard of the international voice distress, safety, and calling frequency 2182 kHz and the international digital selective calling (DSC) distress and safety frequency 2187.5 kHz. Additionally, marine information and weather broadcasts transmitted on 2670 kHz will terminate concurrently. The Coast Guard continues to maintain a continuous watch on VHF FM channel 16 (156.8 MHz) and on existing voice and DSC frequencies in the

Hurricane Season Information from USCG 7th District:
The civilian hurricane warning service for the North Atlantic is provided by the National Hurricane Center, Miami, Florida. The center collates ship, aircraft, radar, and satellite data to produce and issue tropical cyclone warnings and forecasts for the North Atlantic Ocean, including the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. A Tropical Cyclone Advisory message is issued every six hours, with intermediate bulletins provided as needed. For tropical storms and hurricanes threatening to cross the coast of the U.S., coastal warnings are issued to the public so that precautionary actions, including evacuation, can be initiated to minimize damage and loss of life. Two levels of warnings are employed:
(a) HURRICANE WATCH - a preliminary alert that a hurricane MAY threaten a specified portion of the coast. It is issued 36 hours before landfall may occur; and
(b) HURRICANE WARNING - which indicate that hurricane conditions are EXPECTED along a specified portion of the coast. It is issued 24 hours before landfall. To provide additional information for maritime interests, a Marine Advisory is also issued which provides storm position forecasts for up to 72 hours in advance of a storm, and probabilities of hurricane strikes for coastal locations and offshore coordinates. Mariners are reminded that aids to navigation, particularly lighted and unlighted buoys, may be moved from charted position, damaged, destroyed, extinguished or otherwise deemed discrepant as a result of hurricane and storms. Mariners should not rely solely upon the position or operation of an aid to navigation, but also employ such other methods of determining position as may be available. Port Hurricane Conditions are set by the COTP (USCG Captain of the Port) and will change as the threat of severe weather increases, or as storm(s) approach a specific COTP Area of Responsibility. CONDITION WHISKEY - Sustained Gale Force winds associated with Tropical Cyclone activity are predicted within 72 hours; port status: open.
CONDITION X-RAY - Sustained Gale Force winds associated with Tropical Cyclone activity are predicted within 48 hours; port status: open.
CONDITION YANKEE - Sustained Gale Force winds associated with Tropical Cyclone activity are predicted within 24 hours; port status: restricted; vessel/facility control measures in effect.
CONDITION ZULU - Sustained Gale Force winds associated with Tropical Cyclone activity are predicted within 12 hours; port status: closed to all vessel traffic and waterside activities except for activities approved by the COTP.
Drawbridges along the coast may deviate from normal operating procedures. Drawbridges are authorized to remain closed upon approach of Gale Force winds of 34 knots or greater. Extended closure periods may be authorized up to 8 hours prior to arrival of Gale Force winds to facilitate evacuation of land traffic. Due to the uncertainty of hurricane movements and bridge closures, mariners are urged to seek passage through drawbridges well in advance of the arrival of Gale Force winds. Coastal Waters from Eastport, Maine to Shrewsbury, New Jersey
NOAA Hydrographic Survey Operations:
NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson (S222) will be conducting hydrographic survey operations throughout Penobscot Bay, ME from 1 May 2013 through 31 July 2013, and
Buzzards Bay and Rhode Island Sound from 1 August 2013 through 30 September 2013.
Thomas Jefferson is a 208-foot, white survey vessel and deploys two 31-foot, aluminum survey launches; survey vessels carry NOAA markings, can be identified on AIS, and will be monitoring VHF channels 13 and 16. Survey operations will be conducted 24-hrs a day from the ship and from 0730 through 1800 with survey launches. Mariners are requested to exercise caution when transiting the operational area. When towed hydrographic instrumentation is deployed, Thomas Jefferson will be restricted in her ability to maneuver. An overview of the survey area is shown below. Wave Buoy off New Hampshire Coast:
The University of New Hampshire will be deploying a prototype wave energy buoy from approximately 1 July - 23 August, 2013. The work is being done 6 nm off the coast of New Hampshire, approximately 2 nautical miles south of White Island of the Isles of Shoals in PA 42-56.601N 070-38-0152W. The hours of operation will be 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. On scene is a .8 meter diameter, can shaped buoy connected to a threepoint mooring. The yellow buoy will have a radar reflector and an amber flashing light flashing every 4 second. (First District LNM Week 26/2013)
Hydrographic Surveys in NH:
NOAA Ship Ferdinand R. Hassler (S250) will be conducting hydrographic survey operations in the approaches to Portsmouth, NH from approximately 1 August 2013 through 30 September 2013. Ferdinand R. Hassler is a 124-foot, white, twin-hulled survey vessel and deploys a 25-foot survey launch; survey vessels have NOAA markings, can be identified on AIS, and will be monitoring VHF channels 13 and 16. Survey operations will be conducted 24-hrs a day from the ship and during daylight hours with the survey launch. Mariners are requested to exercise caution when transiting the operational area. NJ Offshore Dredging for Beach Nourishment:
Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Trailing Hopper Suction Dredges LIBERTY ISLAND, PADRE ISLAND, and DODGE ISLAND are dredging material approximately 5nm offshore of Sea Bright, NJ and performing beach nourishment in Sea Bright and Monmouth Beach, NJ within the following approximate area: 40-23-31.0"N, 073-58-31.4"W; 40-23-27.6"N, 073-52-0.5"W; 40-18-57.5"N, 073-51-59.8"W; 40-19-01.6"N, 073-58-32.5"W. Mobilization operations will be conducted along the beaches and within Sandy Hook Bay within the following approximate area: 40-26-42.5"N, 073-59-51.1"W; 40-26-43.8"N, 074-00-11.4"W; 40-25-44.0"N, 074-00-22.6"W; 40-25-44.2"N, 074-00-02.4"W. Additional equipment includes, but is not limited to anchored barges, dredge tenders and floating pipeline, tug boats, and crew/survey vessels. Temporary Bridge Replacement at Tappan Zee Underway:
Work to replace the Tappan Zee Bridge (41.068388° -73.895171°) across the Hudson River at mile 27.7 is in progress. On or about 6 May 2013 work to construct the temporary trestle and cofferdam will commence. Temporary trestle is approx.1,040 ft west from the Westchester shoreline of the Hudson River and north of the old Tappan Zee Bridge. Numerous floating work equipments will be operating in and out of waterway north of the old Tappan Zee Bridge. USCG Fifth District
Coastal Waters from Shrewsbury River, New Jersey to Little River, South Carolina
New Bridge Construction at Rt. 72 Bridge (NJICW Mile 37.4):
Mariners are advised that construction work by Schiavone Construction Company will commence from July 1, 2013 through November 2015 at the south side of the existing Route 72 Bridge (39.664211°-74.210296°) over Manahawkin Bay, at NJICW mile 37.4, in Ship Bottom, Ocean County, NJ. The work will be along the southern side and within 100 feet of the existing bridge. The existing navigation channel will remain clear. The new bridge will have a 55 feet vertical clearance above mean high water (MHW) over the navigational channel and a 100 feet Horizontal clearance between fender systems when complete. The construction operation will include in-water work involving steel bulkhead sheeting, installation of work trestles, and steel sheeting cofferdam installation. Tugboats and barges will be used and will monitor VHF Channel 13 in the event that mariners need to contact the contractor. Mariners should check for future notices on this replacement bridge project and use extreme caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM Week 23/2013)
Fender Repair, Route 87 Bridge, Absecon Inlet:
Mariners are advised that fender repairs will be conducted at the Route 87 Bridge (39.385157° -74.421731°) , at mile 0.6, across Absecon Inlet, in Atlantic City, NJ during daylight hours beginning June 24, 2013 through August 30, 2013. To facilitate repairs, two flexi-floats, measuring 11 feet X 40 feet and two 17-foot Carolina skiffs will be operating in the navigable channel. This will be a movable operation as not to impede vessel traffic. Mariners should use exercise caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM Week 22/2013)
Fenwick Island Dredging, Beach Replenishment:
Mariners are advised that dredging and beach replenishment operations will be conducted along Fenwick Island Beach and in the Atlantic Ocean beginning July 8, 2013 until February 20, 2014. All mariners are requested to stay clear of the dredge, submerged pipelines, and barge. Submerged pipeline will be located in two areas off Fenwick Island Beach, from the shoreline to latitude 38-27.77N, longitude 075-02.52W and from the shoreline to latitude 38-27.36N, longitude 075-02.53W. Mariners are to contact the Dredge Terrapin Island on VHF channels 13 or 16 or by calling 630-248-4854, for passing instructions. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area and maintain minimum speed to reduce wake. AMTRAK Susquehanna River Bridge In-Water Inspection:
Mariners are advised that engineering consultants, on behalf of AMTRAK, will be performing in-water inspection work at the AMTRAK Swing Bridge (39.554132° -76.086338°) at mile 1.0, across the Susquehanna River between Perryville and Havre de Grace, MD beginning weekdays, from July 29, 2013 through August 30, 2013, during daylight hours. This time period encompasses all of the 17 approach spans to the bridge. The swing span inspection is estimated to take several days. The inspection equipment, using a bucket boat, will occupy only one of the navigation channels at a time. The bucket boat will not be left in the channel when not being used but will be moored at a nearby marina. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area. Underwater Inspections at Busy MD Bridges:
Mariners are advised that engineering consultants, on behalf of Maryland State Highway, will be performing underwater inspections from July 1, 2013 through August 31, 2013 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., at the following bridge structures:
MD 173 Bridge (39.162681° -76.525088°), at mile 0.9, across Stony Creek, in Riviera Beach;
1) MD-181 Bridge (38.972566° -76.485514°), at mile 0.4 across Spa Creek in Annapolis;
2) MD-450 Bridge (38.992021° -76.487539°), at mile 3.0, across Severn River in Annapolis; and
3) MD-231 Bridge (38.510610° -76.670114°), at mile 24.4, across Patuxent River in Benedict;
The actual onsite days will be dependent on the weather, channel conditions and the availability of the dive crew. A 25-foot boat with outboard motor will be used during the inspections. Inspection personnel and equipment will be in proximity to the navigable channels, do not anticipate any disruption to marine traffic and will relocate upon request for passage from any waterborne vessels. Choptank River Bridge Inspection:
Mariners are advised that engineering consultants, on behalf of Maryland State Highway, will be conducting biennial inspection of the US 50 Bridge (38.579171° -76.056419°), at mile 15.6, across Choptank River near Cambridge, MD. The inspection of the bridge superstructure and upper portions of the concrete support piers from the roadway using an under-bridge snooper truck will be performed, Monday through Friday, from July 26, 2013 through September 30, 2013 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. In addition, above inspection of the channel, fenders, dolphins and the lower portions of the concrete support piers from the water using a boat will be performed each day from July 29, 2013 through August 9, 2013 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Inspection personnel and equipment will be in proximity to the navigable channels, do not anticipate any disruption to marine traffic and will relocate upon request for passage from any waterborne vessels. Artificial Reef Construction, Cambridge Area:
Mariners are advised that artificial reef construction operations are scheduled to occur in the Choptank River on July 10 and 11, 2013, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Artificial Reef Program, will deploy up to three hundred "Reef Ball" structures at a permitted underwater site located between the Senator Frederick C. Malkus, Jr., Memorial (US-50) Bridge and the Bill Burton Fishing Pier (southern), within the 300-foot long charted fish haven near the Dorchester County shoreline, in approximate position latitude 38° 34' 38.4" N, longitude 076° 03' 28.3" W. Interested mariners may contact the on-scene Chesapeake Bay Foundation research vessel PATRICIA CAMPBELL via marine band radio VHF-FM Channel 16. (5th District LNM Week 25/2013)
Reef Planting, St. Leonard Creek:
The Oceanography Department of the U.S. Naval Academy will utilize a turbidity fence until July 22, 2013, in a reef planting operation off of Saw Pit Cove in St Leonard Creek. The turbidity fence will be deployed in a diamond shape with each of the corners marked with a flashing 2 second white light. Center location is 38 23 33.14N, 076 29 21.26W. Reagan Airport Shoreline Work:
Archer Western Contractors will be conducting shoreline recovery operations at the water terminus of the Reagan Airport runway (38.849718° -77.031082°) from 08 July until 15 December, 2014. Work will include sand and stone placement within a turbidity curtain extending into the Potomac River. A material barge, a 120'x50' crane and equipment barges will be on scene. Thimble Shoals Channel Dredging:
The Hopper Dredges R.N. WEEKS and B. E. LINDHOLM will be conducting dredging operations in the Thimble Shoal Channel between Thimble Shoal Channel Lighted Buoy 2 (LLNR 9210) and Thimble Shoal Channel Lighted Buoy 6 (LLNR 9230). Dredge material will be transported to the Virginia Beach oceanfront by a submerged pipeline running along the shore line from 36-50-36.76N, 075-58-17.58W to 36-53-46.21N, 075-59-10.89W. The submerged pipeline will be present from the water's edge extending 4,200 feet seaward. Operations will continue until 15 August, 2013. (5th District LNM Week 25/2013)
VIP Shoaling, Comments Requested on Aids to be Discontinued:
Due to the dynamic shoaling conditions in the Virginia Inside Passage (VIP),referred to by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as the Waterway on the Coast of Virginia (WCV), the Coast Guard can no longer access the VIP with its aids to navigation servicing vessels. Coupled with the lack of sufficient U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredging maintenance funds the Coast Guard is evaluating the aids to Navigation system to determine whether the conditions for which this system was established has changed. Due to these dynamics shoaling conditions the Coast Guard is proposing to discontinue the following VIP aids to navigation :
A. VIP Warning Daybeacon AA (LLNR 5520) (37-53-56.053N, 075-25-05.767W) to VIP Daybeacon 121 (LLNR 5990).
B. VIP Light 128 (LLNR 6020 ) (37-35-47.985N, 075-41-12.385W) to VIP Daybeacon 184 (LLNR 6220).
C. Great Machipongo Inlet Junction Light NC (LLNR 6875) (37-27-18.912N, 075-46-32.850W) .

Elizabeth River Railroad Bridge (NOT on the AICW) July Closures:
Mariners are advised that the Norfolk Southern #5 Railroad Bridge (36.839407°-76.274878°), at mile 1.1, across the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River, near Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA, will be maintained in the closed-to-navigation position to facilitate rail welding work. The following closure period has been authorized: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on July 8, 9, 10, 15, and 16, 2013. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the operating drawbridge regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117.5 Mariners should adjust their transits accordingly. Beaufort Inlet Dredging:
The Dredge SAVANNAH will be conducting dredging operations in the vicinity of Beaufort Inlet (34.692298° -76.668356°) and Morehead City Channel from 02 June until 31 July, 2013. The dredge will monitor VHF-FM channels 13 and 16. It is requested that all vessels contact the dredge 30 minutes prior to time of passage. (5th District LNM Week 23/2013)
NC AICW Bridge Work:
NOTE: While most of this is old news, we keep it active because it will affect Snowbirds and local boaters in these very busy waterways.
Wrightsville Beach Bridge, UPDATE:
1. Bridge rehabilitation on the US 74/76 Bascule Bridge (34.216103° -77.812750°) at mile 283.1 on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina has been extended until March 1, 2014.
2. To facilitate repairs a crane barge will reduce the available horizontal clearance in the navigable channel from 90 feet to 50 feet. A one hour advance notice is required to remove the barge from the channel for vessels requiring greater than 50 feet horizontal clearance to safely navigate through the bridge. The US 74/76 bascule bridge tender can be contacted on VHF-FM channels 13 or 16 to arrange removal of the barge from the channel.
3. Mariners are urged to transit the area with caution at slow no wake speeds.

Bridge fender repairs will be in progress from December 20, 2012 until October 31, 2013 on the US 421 Fixed Bridge (Snows Cut) (34.055532° -77.899558°) at mile 295.6 on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. To facilitate repairs a crane barge will reduce the available horizontal clearance in the navigable channel from 100 feet to 60 feet. A one hour advance notice is required to remove the barge from the channel for vessels requiring greater than 50 feet horizontal clearance to safely navigate through the bridge. Shoaling Shortcut from Snows Cut to Cape Fear River, Not on the AICW:
Shoaling to a depth of 2.0 feet MLW has been reported in the vicinity of Wilmington Shortcut Daybeacon 1 (LLNR 39785) (34-03-12.659N, 077-55-15.787W). Shoaling is encroaching into the navigable channel. (5th District LNM Week 24/2013)
New Bridges Proposed for Wilmington, NC, Area:
An application has been received by the Commander, Fifth Coast Guard District from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) for the proposed construction of the new Wilmington (34.223874° -77.945180°) Bypass/US-17 Bridge over the Cape Fear River, mile 35.5, and over Toomers Creek, mile 1.4, in Brunswick and New Hanover Counties, NC. The Cape Fear River Bridge will have a vertical clearance of 64 feet at mean high water (MHW) and a horizontal clearance of 160 feet. Further north on US-17, the Toomers Creek Bridge will have a vertical clearance of 26 feet at MHW and a horizontal clearance of 48 feet, according to information on the submitted plans. There are no existing bridges along this proposed route. The project would consist of construction of new fixed concrete twin bridges with two lanes each (east and west bound). Each bridge will be 44'3" wide separated by 31'9". Each of the bridge piers will contain a single column supported by a pile foundation. The supporting piles will be 36-inch voided square pre-stressed concrete piles. There will be no fender system on the Cape Fear River but the one pier located in the water has been designed for the force of a tug and barge impact. The bridge over Toomers Creek will span the entire waterway and will have no fender system. NCDOT identified a wetland fill area on the west bank of the Cape Fear River adjacent to the proposed bridge location. In addition to the hurricane information given in General Announcements, highlights of MSIB 17-13 from USCG Charleston relating to pleasure boaters in South Carolina include the following:
All vessels, waterfront facilities, and marinas should review their heavy weather plans. When planning for vessel evacuations, please take into account that drawbridges may not be operating when sustained wind speeds reach 25 mph. Also, if the Governor of South Carolina orders a land evacuation, you should anticipate that drawbridges will not open for vessel traffic. Furthermore, services from pilot associations and commercial tug companies may not be immediately available to assist during port evacuations. Your heavy weather plan should account for these factors to facilitate timely and decisive actions prior to the onset of threatening winds.

Aid to Navigation Change Proposed--Little Mud River:
The following changes have been proposed for the aids to navigation system in the Intracoastal Waterway in Little Mud River.
Change Little Mud River Range Front Light B (LLNR 36880) (31-19-55.098N, 081-19-36.132W)to Light 196 displaying Flashing 2.5s Red and TRs on a pile.
Permanently discontinue Little Mud River Range Rear Light B (LLNR 36885).
Establish Altamaha Sound Daybeacon 197 (LLNR 36887) in approximate position 31-19-33.850N/081-18-53.130W displaying SGs on a pile.
As part of this project, the Coast Guard will be evaluating the waterway. If needed additional lateral aids will be installed to assist the mariner transiting this area. AICW Dredging, Ponce De Leon Inlet Area:
Cavache Inc will commence dredging operations on or around June 17, 2013 in the vicinity of Ponce De Leon Inlet; just over four miles of the ICWW (29.092396°-80.949043°). The Dredge "MAYA CAELYN" will be disposing of material via floating, submerged and landward pipelines at the district owned MSA 434 site. Portions of the pipeline closest to the dredge will remain floating and will be marked with flashing lights at night. The remaining pipeline will run on the beach or sunk to allow boating traffic to enter the channels. Mariners are urged to stay clear of the area between the beach and the dredge to avoid potential interference with the pipeline. Operations are expected to be completed on or about November 14, 2013. The "MAYA CAELYN" can be reached on VHF channels 7A, 13 and 16. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. Artificial Reef Construction off Ft. Pierce:
Center Marine Contracting will commence Artificial Reef Construction on or about June 5, 2013. Reef Construction will take place at the Blind Creek and Oceans Bay sites located south of the Fort Pierce inlet (27.468620° -80.299096°) approximately 5 and 11 miles respectively. Reefs will be constructed at depths of 13 feet and within 250 yards of shore. Operations will occur Monday through Sunday (7 Days per Week) daylight hours only. The Tug Mark and ABS Bargo MoBro 1210 will monitor VHF-FM channel 16 the project completion date is July 30, 2013. St Lucie Crossroads to be Dredged:
Southwind Construction Corp will commence hydraulic dredging operations on or about June 28, 2013 in the crossroads ICWW & OWW Cuts 1, 4, 5 & 6 Crossroads (27.166942° -80.180178°) near St. Lucie Inlet, Martin County, Florida. The Dredge WILKO and workboats Miss Leanne and Proud Mary will monitor channel 78 for passing arrangements or dredge cell (812-480-6761). There will be submerged and floating pipeline associated with dredging operation. Mariners are urged to transit at the slowest safe speed to minimize wake, and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. Pipeline and vessels will be visibly lighted and marked according to Coast Guard regulations. Submerged pipeline will be positioned in the vicinity of the ICWW traversing southerly along the easternmost shoreline and outside of Seagrass areas to upland disposal site M5-DMMA. Operations will continue Monday through Sunday, 7 Days per Week, 24 Hours per Day until July 31, 2013. Okeechobee Waterway Update:
On July 2, 2013 at 2400 hours the lake level was reported at 14.33 feet and the navigational depths were reported at 8.27 feet for Route 1 (26°58'32.23"N, 80°38'22.92"W) and 6.47 feet for Route 2 (Rim Route) (26°47'0.61"N, 26°47'0.61"N) You can usually check the daily lake level and navigational depths at http://w3.saj.usace.army.mil/h2o/reports/r-oke.html
Drilling in Lake Worth and Inlet Areas:
AMEC and subcontractors (Amdrill) will begin work on Monday, June 17, 2013. Operations will include SPT drilling and rock coring on a platform barge at 24 locations within the area of the Lake Worth Inlet (26-46-16.320N, 080-02-37.185W), east of the Port of Palm Beach, south of Peanut Island, extending through the channel and approximately 1000 feet past the jetties into open waters. Operations should take approximately 31 calendar days to complete. Work will be performed 7 days a week during the hours of 0700 in the morning to 1900 at night. The platform barge will be stationed at Peanut Island for overnight mooring. For the 7 Borings previously identified (3, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 24) as potentially impeding ship traffic flow to the Port of Palm Beach, AMEC will coordinate with the Pilots on CH14 or by phone (561) 845-2628 to notify their presence at least 24 hours before work will begin in that area. AMEC will also to their best to schedule work in these areas between the hours of 0900 to 1630 to reduce the hindering of ship traffic. If a large vessel is to require the entire channel for navigation, AMEC requires a minimum of a 24 hour notification to move their vessel as well as adjust their schedule as needed. Indian River (North Section) Daybeacon 44 (LLNR 41415) (28-32-09.384N, 080-46-02.778W) is destroyed. The remains of the pile are partially submerged and are a hazard to navigation. Mariners are advised to exercise extreme caution while transiting the area. (7th District LNM Week 27/2013)
Indian Key Pass LT 15 (LLNR 16030) is destroyed. The remains of the pile is leaning southwest and sticking up out of the water 5ft at high tide. A TRLB "WR15" with Fl Q G characteristics is in position 25-49-58.069N 081-25-24.643W channelward marking best water. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area. Crescent Beach Bridge (AICW Mile 788.6) Update: Quinn Construction will be working on the Crescent Beach Bridge (29.768299°-81.258256°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 788.6, Crescent Beach, St. Johns County, Florida from January 7 through August 31, 2013. The Crescent Beach Bridge will be on single-leaf operations from January 7 through August 31, 2013. A double-leaf is available with a four hour advance notice to the bridge tender....Please contact Quinn Construction 941-722-7722 for additional information.
Lantana Bridge (AICW Mile 1031) Update: GLF Construction Corporation has advised this office that the demolition and replacement of the East Ocean Avenue Bridge (26.583375°-80.046117°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 1031, Lantana, Palm Beach County, Florida will start on March 20, 2012 and will continue until November 15, 2013.
From June 17, 2013 through August 18, 2013, the east bascule leaf will be erected which will allow 60 feet of horizontal clearance on the west side of the AICW. If your vessel needs more than 60 feet of horizontal clearance for safe passage, please provide GLF a twenty four hour notice by contacting the tug "Miss Thelma" on marine channel 16 or by calling (954) 829-2781. The contractor may have a barge in the waterway, under the structural steel leaf between these dates, for safety reasons, maintaining the horizontal clearance of 60 feet anytime a bascule leaf is in the down position.
Boynton Beach Bridge (Not on the AICW): Due to a bridge inspection, the SR A1A (Boynton Beach) Bridge (26.545321° -80.043387°) across Boynton Inlet, West Palm Beach, Florida will have the vertical clearance reduced by up to 8 feet from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 9, 2013. Mariners are requested to contact the snooper bucket on VHF-FM channel 16 for passing information.
Flagler Memorial Bridge (AICW Mile 1021.8): Update: Flagler Memorial Bridge (AICW Mile 1021.8) Night Time Restriction Change and Current Regulations:

FLORIDA - ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY - WEST PALM BEACH TO MIAMI - FLAGLER MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Bridge Construction/Waterway Restriction/Temporary Bridge Regulation Changes/Update.
The Florida Department of Transportation contractor Archer Western has been authorized to limit the horizontal navigational clearance to 25 feet at night and 70 feet during the day, for the emergency repairs of the existing Flagler Memorial Bridge (26.718169° -80.047089°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 1021.8, Palm Beach, Florida, starting in June 2013. Night time restrictions will limit horizontal clearance to 25 feet between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily for up to three month. The Flagler Memorial Bridge will be left in the open to navigation position between these hours.
The full 70 feet of horizontal clearance will be made available with a four hour notice to the on-scene tug.
The temporary waterway restriction limiting horizontal clearance to 70 feet will remain in effect at the existing Flagler Memorial Bridge until the replacement bridge is complete. Mariners are advised that changes to navigational clearance may be necessary as repair conditions develop.
The temporary regulations for the Flagler Memorial and Royal Park Bridges (26.705949°-80.045181°) will remain as follows: Flagler Memorial Bridge schedule will remain on the quarter hour and three-quarter hour except that from 8:16 a.m. to 9:14 a.m. and from 4:16 p.m. to 5:14 p.m., The Royal Park Bridge will remain on the hour and hour-hour schedule except that from 8:01 a.m. to 8:59 a.m. and from 4:31 p.m. to 5:29 p.m. this bridge will be allowed to remain closed to navigation, Monday through Friday until the repairs are completed on the Flagler Memorial Bridge.
Archer Western Inc has advised the bridge owner that they will have divers around the structure in and around the navigable channel Mariners are reminded to avoid diving flags at all times and if the waterway is too restrictive due to this operation to come to all stop until the divers have moved outside the navigable channel. The Coast Guard is working with the bridge owner to address additional safety concerns created by this diving operation.
Due to the unusual circumstances associated with the bridge structure, the bridge owner has requested an emergency back-up plan in case the repairs are unable to be accomplished as anticipated. If the Flagler Memorial Bridge malfunctions and is left in the open to navigation position, the Royal Park and Southern Boulevard Bridges will be placed on restricted schedules to accommodate increased vehicular traffic.
If an emergency occurs, the Royal Park Bridge will be on an hourly schedule at the quarter after the hour, except that from 8:16 a.m. to 10:14 a.m. and from 4:16 p.m. to 6:14 p.m. this bridge will be allowed to remain closed to navigation. The Southern Boulevard Bridge will remain on the twice an hour schedule (top of the hour and bottom of the hour), except that from 8:31 a.m. to 9:59 a.m. and from 4:31 p.m. to 5:59 p.m. this bridge will be allowed to remain closed to navigation.
Additional waterway restrictions will be promulgated once the new Flagler Memorial Bridge construction commences.
Southern Blvd Bridge (AICW Mile 1024.7):The Coast Guard has issued a Public Notice (PN) regarding the permit application for approval of location and plans to replace the Southern Boulevard Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (Lake Worth Lagoon), mile 1024.7 (26.675234° -80.046876°), Between the City of West Palm Beach and the Town of Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida. Bear Cut Bridge (Not on the AICW): Kiewit Infrastructure South Company will be working on soil borings next to the Bear Cut Bridge (25.729193° -80.158923°) across Bear Cut, Virginia Key, Miami-Dade County, Florida, until July 20, 2013. This work will be conducted from the bridge structure with equipment hanging down into the water. Mariners are requested to maintain minimum wake/slow speed throughout this area.
Bahia Honda Bridge: CMA Corporation has advised the Coast Guard that they are repairing the Bahia Honda Bridge (24.657403° -81.288790°), Monroe County, Florida. This work is not expected to impact navigation. There will be a 20 foot barge in the vicinity of the bridge during daylight hours until December 2014. Mariners are requested to maintain minimum wake throughout this area.
