Miami Boat Show Bridge Schedule:
Due to the high volume of vehicle and vessel traffic movement during the Miami Boat Show the East (25.790980° -80.152275°) and West Venetian Causeway Bridge (25.789555°, -80.181524°) Miami, Florida will be placed on a half-hour schedule. The bridges will open on the top of the hour and bottom of the hour from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily, Monday, February 11 through Tuesday, February 19, 2013. At all other times the bridges will open on demand. Vessels that may pass without an opening may do so at any time. (7th District LNM Week 03/2013)
Due to the high volume of vehicle and vessel traffic movement during the Miami Boat Show the 63rd Street Bridge (25.843825°-80.122449°) across Indian Creek, Miami, Florida will be opening on the top of the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily February 6 through February 13 and from February 19 through February 22, 2013. Local Law Enforcement will be stationed on the bridge to control both vehicle and vessel traffic during these openings. At all other times, the bridge will open on-demand. Coastal Waters from Little River, South Carolina to Panama City, Florida
Charleston Aids to Change:
The following changes will be made to the aids to navigation system in the Cooper River.
Cooper River Range B Front Light (LLNR 2965) (32-54-24.517N, 079-56-08.952W) will be changed to a 24-hour range displaying Quick Flashing Green characteristics, lighted throughout 24 hours and will be visible 4 degree each side of the rangeline. The range boards will be removed.
Cooper River Range B Rear Light (LLNR 2970) (32-54-16.579N, 079-56-15.060W) will be changed to a 24-hour range displaying Flashing Green ISO 6 characteristics, lighted throughout 24 hours and will be visible 4 degree each side of the rangeline. The range boards will be removed.
This action is scheduled to be completed the week of February 5, 2013. (7th District LNM Week 04/2013)
Obstruction SC Coast:
The Coast Guard has received a report from the US Army Corps of Engineers Charleston District of an unknown obstruction with a reported depth of 4ft in position 32-42-08.584N 079-51-31.627W. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area. (7th District LNM Week 05/2013) This position is offshore in the ocean, between Charleston Harbor Entrance and Folly Beach.
Kings Bay/Fernandina Harbor Dredging:
Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company will be conducting dredge operations in Kings Bay, Georgia and Fernandina Harbor, Florida. Mobilization will commence January 21, 2013. Dredging operations will begin on or about January 25, 2013. Maintenance Equipment used survey vessel Thames River and the trailing suction hopper Dredge TERRAPIN ISLAND. Dredge operations will occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Dredge will monitor marine VHF channels 13 and 16. Operations will consist of dredging approximately 700,000 cubic yards of material from Cu1 1-N of the Kings bay Entrance Channel from station 80+00 to station 350+00. All of the yardage will be deposed of off shore at the Fernandina Ocean Disposal Area (D/A-O) located 14 miles southeast of the dredging areas.

St. Johns River Dredging:
Weeks Marine will commence dredging operations on or about January 17 until approximately May 1, 2013. The bucket dredge WEEKS 506 and WEEKS 551, Tender Robert, Tender Delta, Tug Catherine, Tug Robert Burton and scows will be operating at various locations in the St. Johns River, Jacksonville, Florida. This is a 40-foot project from St Johns Bar Cut Range to Mile Point Lower Range and Turn. Dredge material will be dumped at the Jacksonville Ocean Dredge Material Disposal Site central to lat 30° 21’ 00.94N/81° 17’ 59.20W. Operations will be on a (24) hours per day, (7) days per week basis. The dredge and attendant plant will have lighting at night. The dredge and tugs will monitor marine VHF channel 13 and 16. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution and transit the area at their slowest safe speed to create minimum wake after passing arrangements have been made. Ponce De Leon Cut (AICW Mile 843) Shoaling:
Shoaling is present in the vicinity of Ponce de Leon Cut DBN 18 (LLNR 40610) (29-03-25.656N, 080-54-53.628W). A 5ft shoal extends approximately 10 yards into the channel at low tide water depth is approximately 5ft. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area. Ponce Inlet Hazards:
Ponce de Leon Inlet North Jetty Light (LLNR 9520) (29-04-42.943N, 080-54-29.191W) and the temporary light has been destroyed. The Jetty is unlit and a hazard to navigation. Mariners are advised to exercise extreme caution in the vicinity of Ponce de Leon Inlet. (7th District LNM Week 02/2013)
There is extreme shoaling present at low tide between Ponce de Leon Inlet Buoy 7A (LLNR 9543) (29-04-30.097N, 080-55-12.687W) and Ponce de Leon Inlet Temp Buoy 7B. A fivefoot shoal extends approximately 10 yards into the channel at low tide. Temporary aids 7B, 8A and 8B have all been relocated to mark best water and shoaling in the area. Mariners are reminded that temporary buoys are not charted and positions of the buoys frequently shift with changing conditions. Mariners are advised to exercise extreme caution while transiting the area. (7th District LNM Week 04/2013)
Emergency Dredging, Fort Pierce Inlet:
Lucas Marine Acquisition Company, LLC will commence emergency dredging operations on or about February 4, 2013 in Fort Pierce Inlet Entrance Channel, Florida (27.468620° -80.299096°). Dredge operations will be conducted during daylight hours only 7 days a week until approximately mid to late March, 2013. At times the dredge equipment (two flat deck barges, one large crane, and one survey boat) may take up half of the navigable channel. Lucas Marine will be monitoring VHF Marine Channels 14 and 16. Fort Pierce City Marina Construction Update:
Fort Pierce City Marina (27.448820° -80.320967°) is under major construction which consists of the building of 12 islands and 150 floating docks. A heavy volume of barges and other construction type vessels will be in this area during daylight periods while construction is being conducted. Also, the Private Aids to Navigation associated with this channel may be missing or marked with temporary buoys. May 2013 is the approximate completion date for the first phase of this project. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting this area and may contact Lucas Marine at 772-286-5094. (7th District LNM Week 04/2013)
Canaveral Lock Restrictions:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has started repair work at the Canaveral Lock (28.408777°-80.637077°) which will impact operations over the next six months. The repairs are necessary to fix a collapsing guide wall on the south side of the lock. In order to accommodate equipment placed in the lock to facilitate the repairs, the Corps will operate the lock on an adjusted scheduled:
· Weekdays, 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Lock open, one lockage in each direction
· Weekdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lock closed for repair work
· Weekdays, 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Lock open, lockages as needed
· Weekends, 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Lock open, lockages as needed
The change in operating hours will be in effect until the repairs are complete, currently estimated to be the summer of 2013. Additionally, vessels that require more than 45 feet of horizontal clearance will need to coordinate passage through the lock at least seven days in advance by contacting the Canaveral Lock at (321) 783-5421....

Ocean Current Testing off West Palm:
Dehlsen Associates, LLC will be conducting an ocean current testing using a 150kHz acoustic Doppler current profiler from January 25 through March 1, 2013. The acoustic device will be approximately 11.7 nautical miles offshore West Palm Beach, Florida at approximate coordinates 26°39.635’N/79°49.205’W. The acoustic device will be moored to the seafloor using subsurface floats. The device depth will be approximately 200m. For further details contact Allison Cribbs at (727)-798-1049. Lake Worth Inlet Dredging:
Great Lakes Dock & Dredge, LLC will commence dredging operations on or about January 28, 2013. The work consists of dredging approximately 350,000 cubic yards of material from the Northern Turning Basin (26.766914° -80.047387°), Main Channel and Settling Basin with placement on the beach at Palm Beach within 3, 500 feet of the jetty. A submerged pipeline will be installed on the bottom across the Main Channel scheduled for approximately January 21, 2013. The cutter suction dredge "TEXAS" will monitor VHF channels 13 & 16. Floating dredge pipeine will connect from the stern of the dredge to the submerged dredge pipeline. There will be numerous anchor buoys around the dredge and pipelines. Also, on site will be (2) assist tugs, derrick barge, anchor barge and a survey vessel. Operations will be 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with an approximate completion date of February 21, 2013. Dredging in Blind Pass:
Florida Dredge & Dock LLC will commence dredging operations on or about February 10, 2013. Hydraulic dredging operations will be performed in Blind Pass, Florida (26.482763° -82.182421°). The dredge “ROCK POINT” and work boats Path Finder and Naple will monitor channels 13, 16 and working channel 71 the Dredge cell (727) 480-5074. Pipeline and vessels will be visibly lighted. Floating rubber and submerged polyethylene pipeline is associated with the operation. The pipeline will traverse southerly directly from the Wulfert Channel dredging area to designated beach fill location. All dredging operations will be on the east side landward of Blind Pass Bridge. Operations will be from 6:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Sunday (7-days per week) with an approximate completion date of April 15, 2013. Fishermans Channel Light 13 (LLNR 10690) (25-46-13.445N, 080-10-22.918W) is destroyed. The wreckage from the aid has been marked with a TRLB "WR13" with Fl Q G characteristics. Mariners are advised to exercise caution while transiting the area. (7th District LNM Week 05/2013)

Florida Bridge Update: From the USCG 7th District LNM Week 04/2013:
NOTE: Information new with this alert is in bold. There are many on-going projects lasting sometimes for years. You can “Search” a bridge name for previous East Coast Alerts that may contain information that is still current. Bridges that have vertical height reduced (or other severe restriction) will remain on this list until the restriction is removed.
Amelia River SR A1A Bridge (AICW Mile 721) Update: The Coast Guard Bridge Branch has approved a vertical clearance reduction of four foot reducing the vertical clearance to 61 feet for one half of the navigable channel at the SR A1A Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 721.0 (30.626304°-81.484527°), Fernandina Beach, Nassau County, Florida, from April 9, 2012 through March 15, 2013.
SR 312 Bridge (AICW Mile 780.0): The Coast Guard Bridge Branch has approved a vertical clearance reduction of four foot reducing the vertical clearance to 61 feet for one half of the navigable channel at the SR 312 Bridge (29.862672° -81.309784°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 780.0, Lake City (St. Augustine), St John’s County, Florida, through August, 2013.
Crescent Beach Bridge (AICW Mile 788.6): Quinn Construction will be working on the Crescent Beach Bridge (29.768299°-81.258256°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 788.6, Crescent Beach, St. Johns County, Florida from January 7 through August 31, 2013. The Crescent Beach Bridge will be on single-leaf operations from January 7 through March 31, 2013 and from June 1 through August 31, 2013. A double-leaf is available with a four hour advance notice to the bridge tender.
SR 520 Bridge (AICW Mile 897.4): Orion Marine Construction is working on the SR 520 Bridge (28.354533°-80.717922°), across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Canaveral, Florida. This work consists of substructure repairs. This contractor will be working outside the channel limits and is not expected to impact navigation. This work is expected to be completed by June 2015.
Robert Harris/Lake Avenue Bridge: Bridge Closure. The Coast Guard Bridge Branch and Coast Guard Sector Miami are approving a 48 hour bridge closure of the Lake Avenue/Robert Harris SR 802 Bridge (26.613475° -80.044348°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 1028.8, West Palm Beach, Florida to change a malfunctioning shaft. The Lake Avenue/Robert Harris SR 802 Bridge will be closed to navigation from 7:00 a.m. on February 19 through 7:00 a.m. on February 21, 2013 or from February 26 to February 28, 2013, depending on when the parts arrive. This bridge has a vertical clearance of 35 feet above mean high water in the closed position with 2 feet additional on the east side. Vessels that may pass through the bridge without an opening may do so at any time.
Lantana Bridge: GLF Construction Corporation has advised this office that the demolition and replacement of the East Ocean Avenue Bridge (26.583375°-80.046117°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Lantana, Palm Beach County, Florida will start on March 20, 2012 and will continue until April 16, 2013. From January 2 through February 15, 2013, a work barge will be in the AICW which will only allow 37 feet of horizontal clearance. If your vessel needs more than 37 feet of horizontal clearance for safe passage, please provide GLF a one hour notice by contacting them on marine channel16. The contractor may have a barge in the waterway from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday between these dates.
Snake Creek Bridge (24.951366°-80.588015°), Monroe County, Florida: Will only open on the top of the hour from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily on February 23 and 24, 2013 to alleviate traffic congestion for a local event. At all other times the bridge will operate per its normal published schedule.
Indian Street Bridge, Okeechobee Waterway: Closure of Waterway:
1. Mariners are hereby notified to use caution and plan their transit of this area accordingly.
2. The closure is related to new bridge construction.
3. The project is located at Lat 27-09-32.11 North and Long 80-15-06.5 West.
4. There will be a daily waterway closure from 1000 - 1600 local time starting 11 February 2013 through 4 March 2013. The waterway will be closed in both directions during these hours. Archer Western Contractors has arranged for the Martin County Sheriff's Office to maintain a Safety Zone during closure hours. Mariners should operate vessels with caution in the area due to potential for floating debris, increased traffic due to the operation, and large equipment working in and along the waterway. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office will be monitoring VHF channels 13 and 16. All vessels are to comply with the Inland

Big John Monahan Bridge, SR 710: Work has started on the new Big John Monahan (SR 710) Bridge (27.011411°-80.455312°) across the St. Lucie Canal, Okeechobee Waterway, Florida. Cone & Graham, Inc has advised the Coast Guard that they will start working in the channel on approximately September 10, 2012 and expect to be completed by February 28, 2013. Due to fender construction a barge has been placed in the navigation channel which reduced the horizontal clearance to 45 feet. Vessels requiring additional horizontal clearance should provide four hours advance notification to the onscene tug on VHF-FM channel 13 or 16. This work is expected to continue until Fall 2014.
Tamiami Swing Bridge: The Coast Guard has issued a Public Notice (PN) regarding the permit application for approval of location and plans to replace the historic NW South River Drive/Delaware Parkway Bridge (aka Tamiami Swing Bridge) across the Tamiami Canal, mile 0.06, at Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida. You may access PN 01-13 dated 18 January 2013 which solicits comments through 19 February 2013 at http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=pnBridges&Active=1®ion=7. Longboat Bridge: The Coast Guard has been advised that a contractor is working on the fender system of the Longboat Pass Bridge (27.333357°-82.582452°), Longboat Key, Sarasota County, Florida. They anticipate having the work complete by February 8, 2013. The work boat and barge may be restricting the main channel at times between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and can be moved to allow larger vessels to pass, please contact the field manager at 941-928-9051.
Matlacha Pass Bridge: Updated. Archer Western Contractors will be closing the new Matlacha Pass Bridge (26.632280° -82.067999°), Matlacha Pass mile 6.0, Lee County, Florida from February 11 through May 11, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily to complete the bridge work. The channel can be open with at least 48 hours notice to the bridge tender. Vessels that may pass under the bridge without an opening may do so at any time. Due to the major construction activity at this bridge site mariners are reminded to be extremely careful when transiting through this area.
USCG Fifth District
Coastal Waters from Shrewsbury River, New Jersey to Little River, South Carolina
NJ Bridge Construction/Repairs:
Mariners are advised that New Jersey Transit Rail Operations will be conducting machinery replacement at the Shark River Railroad Bridge (South Channel) (40.184567° -74.025877°), at mile 0.9, between Belmar and Avon NJ, and will be closed to vessels requiring an opening beginning at 12:01 a.m., on February 25, 2013 to 12:01 a.m., on March 6, 2013. The available vertical clearance in the closed position to vessels is approximately 8 feet, above mean high water. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the operating drawbridge regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117.751. Mariners should adjust their transits accordingly. (5th District LNM Week 52/2012)
Mariners are advised to take caution when approaching the construction site for the repairs of the superstructure and piles on the JFK Memorial Bridge (39.315156°-74.528436°) over Risley Channel, at mile 1.1, Borough of Longport, NJ. The bridge will be under repair using occasional barges, snooper cranes and safety netting restricting access and reducing vertical clearance to 20 feet for half of the horizontal clearance of the channel (50 feet) from March 1, 2013 through November 30, 2013. The remaining portion of the navigable channel shall remain open to vessels with a horizontal clearance of 50 and vertical clearance of 25 feet. (5th District LNM Week 03/2013)
Mariners are advised that concrete box beam repairs will start to be performed from 19 February 2013 through 31 December, 2013 at the Garden State Parkway North Bound Bridges (39.294539° -74.621566°) across Great Egg Harbor Ship Channel and Drag Channel, at mile 3.5, between Cape May and Atlantic Counties, NJ. To facilitate the work on the bridges outside the navigable channel, the box beam repairs will reduce the available vertical clearance by approximately 3.6 feet, above MHW. Barge platforms will be utilized next to the bridges for the box beam repairs outside the channel. We are also advising mariners to check for future notices on this project and use extreme caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM Week 02/2013)
Underwater Inspections Baltimore Key Bridge:
Mariners are advised that an engineering firm, on behalf of the Maryland Transportation Authority, will conduct underwater inspections (11 piers, 4 dolphins, & 2 fender systems) at the Francis Scott Key Bridge (39.217889° -76.527470°) across the Patapsco River (South Branch), at mile 6.0, at Baltimore MD. The underwater inspections will be performed, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from February 25, 2013 to March 22, 2013. The inspections will take place from a 26-foot aluminum work skiff, will either anchor adjacent to the piers or will be temporarily moored to the piers. A four-man dive team consisting of a dive supervisor, diver and stand-by diver will work with vessel traffic and bridge operators so as not to impede the waterway. Mariners should exercise caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM Week 05/2013)
Baltimore Inner Harbor Underwater Inspections:
Mariners are advised that an engineering firm, on behalf of the City of Baltimore, will complete the remaining underwater inspections of the Inner Harbor Promenade Structures (39.284354° -76.610432°) from the Rusty Scupper restaurant to the Pier Six Pavilion across a tidal portion of the Patapsco River at Baltimore MD. This is a continuation of the inspections done in 2012. The underwater inspections will now be performed, each day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., from February 11, 2013 to March 30, 2013. To facilitate the inspections, diving operations will be conducted from a 25-foot or 41-foot work vessel that will tied–off to the piers and bulkheads on the promenade. Mariners should exercise caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM Week 04/2013)
Naval Academy Waterfront Construction:
Marine Technologies, LLC will be conducting marine construction and diving operations on the U.S. Naval Academy waterfront (38.978613° 38.978613°) from 04 February until 31 December, 2013. Numerous crane and material barges will be moored in the vicinity. The Tugs JEZEBEL and SPIRIT will monitor VHF-FM channels 13 and 16. A NO WAKE transit is requested of all vessels. Steel Bridge Replacement Construction Begins:
Mariners are advised that construction work, by McLean Contracting Company, will commence in February 2013 and will extend through March 2017 for the replacement of the existing Dominion Boulevard/US 17 (Lift) Bridge (36.735991° -76.294895°) across the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River, at AICW mile 8.8, in Chesapeake, VA (commonly known as the Steel Bridge) and its approaches, with a new 95-foot high-level fixed bridge and new approaches on essentially the same alignment. (Latitude 36 44’ 10” N, Longitude 076 17’ 40” W). The operation will consist of construction of a new bridge, removal and replacement of the bridge fender system, demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a second new bridge, along with inwater work involving pile driving, concrete pier construction and girder erection. Tugboats will be used and will monitor VHF Channel 13 in the event that mariners need to contact the contractor. Lesner Bridge Replacement:
An application has been received by the Commander, Fifth Coast Guard District from the City of Virginia Beach, VA (the City) for the proposed replacement of the John A. Lesner Bridge (36.906575°-76.092033°), at mile 0.0, across Lynnhaven Inlet along US 60, at Virginia Beach, VA. The new bridge would have a vertical clearance of 45 feet, above mean high water, along with a horizontal clearance of 150 feet between face of the fenders, according to information on submittal plan sheets. The proposed project would consist of construction of a new high-level fixed concrete bridge segmental, 4 lane bridge, along the same alignment. The City will completely remove the existing in-water bridge piles. Most of the proposed bridge replacement can be built within existing right-of-way and would accommodate two 53-foot 8-inch bridges (eastbound and westbound). The dredge material placement site located southwest of the bridge, adjacent to the boat ramp facility, is owned by the City and will be used as a staging area. The contractor will access the lay down and staging area via water through a proposed temporary bulkhead. The bridge has been designed for the force of a bridge impact; however, a fender system with a 150-foot horizontal clearance will be provided for the protection of vessels. Bonner Bridge Work:
Mariners are advised that work will continue for bridge scour protection measures at the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge (35.771117° -75.536274°) across Oregon Inlet, at mile 0.9 in Dare County, NC. An anchored lighted construction barge will be installing rock filled wire baskets and sand bags on the inlet bottom between bridge bents 158-162 on the east and west side of the bridge through February 28, 2013 outside the navigable channel. Chesapeake Bay Southern Approach Dredging:
The Hopper Dredges B.E. LINDHOLM and R.N. WEEKS continue to dredge beachfill material from the Chesapeake Bay Southern Approach Channel for transfer to a temporary submerged pipeline that extends 2,400 to 4,200 feet from the beach between 27th and 70th Street Oceanfront (36.895660° 36.895660°). NC Minor Inlet Shoaling:
A U.S. Army Corps of Engineer survey conducted 10 January, 2013 indicates shoaling to a depth of 4.5 feet MLW in the vicinity of New Topsail Inlet Buoy 3 (LLNR 29995) (34-20-14.557N, 077-39-26.331W). (5th District LNM Week 04/2013)
Shoaling to a depth of 2.8 feet MLW has been reported between Carolina Beach Inlet Buoy 3 (LLNR 30275) (34-04-57.093N, 077-52-00.570W) and Carolina Beach Inlet Buoy 4 (LLNR 30280). (5th District LNM Week 04/2013)
Dredge CHESAPEAKE will be conducting dredging operations in Masonboro Inlet (34.183051° -77.810454°)/Masonboro Creek from 15 January until 15 March, 2013. A pipeline will run from Mason Creek across Banks Channel and onto Figure Eight Island on the ocean side. The dredge will monitor VHF-fm channels 13 and 16. A NO WAKE transit is requested of all vessels passing the dredge and if necessary to clarify a SAFE PASSAGE contact the dredge on the appropriate VHF-FM channels. (5th District LNM Week 52/2012)
NC AICW Construction:
The Dredge WILKO will be conducting dredging operations in the AICW at the following locations/dates:
A. White Oak River Crossing (34.680325°-77.115878°) -26 January until 31 January, 2013.
B. Howard Crossing from 31 January until 18 February, 2013.
Floating rubber and submerged polyethylene pipelines will transport dredge spoil to the Upland Disposal Area 64 from the White Oak site and Upland Disposal Area 203 from the Howard site. NC AICW Bridge Work:
BRIDGE REHABILIATATION WILL BE IN PROGRESS FROM SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 UNTIL MAY 1, 2013 ON THE US 74/76 BASCULE BRIDGE (34.216103° -77.812750°) AT MILE 283.1 ON THE ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY IN WRIGHTVILLE BEACH, NORTH CAROLINA (5th District Bridge Branch.) Mariners are advised that the S.R. 74 Bridge (34.216103° -77.812750°) at AIW mile 283.1, at Wrightsville Beach, NC will be closed to navigation from October 22, 2012 through March 15, 2013, each day, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., except vessel openings will be provided if at least two hours advance notice is given to the bridge tender at (910) 256-4519 or via marine radio on channel 18 VHF. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117.821(a)(4). The bridge in the closed position provides 20 feet of vertical clearance at mean high water. Vessels that can pass under the bridge without a drawbridge opening may do so at all times and the bridge will be able to open in an emergency. Mariners are advised that structural repairs will be performed at the Snows Cut Bridge (34.055532° -77.899558°) on US 421 at AIWW mile 295.7 at Carolina Beach, NC beginning 7 a.m., on December 10, 2012 through 5 p.m., on April 1, 2013. To facilitate repairs, a work platform will be installed and the available vertical clearance for the underside of the bridge will be temporarily reduced by four feet to 61 feet above mean high water. Bridge fender repairs will be in progress from December 20, 2012 until October 31, 2013 on the US 421 Fixed Bridge (34.055532° -77.899558°) at mile 295.6 on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. To facilitate repairs a crane barge will reduce the available horizontal clearance in the navigable channel from 100 feet to 60 feet. A one hour advance notice is required to remove the barge from the channel for vessels requiring greater than 50 feet horizontal clearance to safely navigate through the bridge. An autonomous underwater vehicle will be deployed in the Gulf of Maine for oceanographic research from January 18, 2013 until February 12, 2013. Boothbay Harbor Pipeline:
Submerged pipeline will be installed in Boothbay Harbor from 4 - 8 February 2013. The hours of operation will be 7:00 am - 10:00 pm. The pipeline will run from Capitol Island; 43 degrees, 49.562 minutes north, 69 degrees 38.901 minutes west to McKown Point 43 degrees 50.467 minutes north, 69 degrees 38.647 minutes west in Boothbay Harbor. New Hampshire Dredging:

Sunken Vessel Stellwagen Bank:
The Coast Guard has confirmed that there is a sunken vessel in the Stellwagen Bank Area, in position 42-22-48.20N 070-23-13.98W in 90 feet of water. Fishing vessels are requested to transit this area with extreme caution. (First District LNM Week 05/2013)
New Bedford Work:
Massachusetts Clean Energy is doing work in New Bedford (41.623313°-70.906478°) until approximately 15 July 2013. Silt Boom and Fish Weir Netting will be deployed at two areas within New Bedford / Fairhaven Harbor. The first area is located west of Palmers Island and extends north from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hurricane Barrier for 1200 feet before turning westerly and extending an additional 600 feet to the southern end of the existing South Terminal bulkhead. In this area, a bubble curtain is installed at the South Terminal bulkhead to allow for the passage of vessels accessing the Gifford Street boat ramp. The second area is north of Popes Island, and is located northeast of the Federal Channel and to the east of the state channel and to the south of Marsh Island. This area is completely enclosed and not accessible to vessels while the equipment is in the water. The work is being done 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. On scene is silt curtains, fish weir nets, marker buoys, anchors, moorings, mooring lines, bubble curtain, submerged compressed air hoses, maintenance skiffs, barges, and divers. Stonington Harbor Construction:
Marine construction and repair operations are being done on the east breakwater (41.317165°-71.905197°), outside of Stonington Harbor, until approximately 20 March 2013. The work is being done daily from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. On scene is a barge, tug, small craft & material barges that are monitoring VHF-FM channels 13 & 16. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. (First District LNM Week 05/2013)
Fire Island, Long Island Dredging:
Dredging will be done in Fire Island Inlet (40.628810°-73.324077°) & Long Island from 1 February until approximately 30 April 2013. The hours of operation will be 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. A submerged pipeline will be placed from the west end of Fire Island and ending on Cedar Beach. On scene will be a dredge, booster, floating pontoon barges & derricks. The dredge operator will be monitoring VNF-FM channels 13 & 16. Traffic should call 30 minutes prior to passage. The dredge and floating pipeline are held in place by cables and anchors which are some distance away from the equipment. Buoys are attached to the anchors. Mariners are requested to comply with the Rules of the Road and to remain a safe distance away from the equipment. Any fishing equipment in the area should be removed prior to the work begins. - On the Hudson River near Hastings-on-Hudson, project position 41° 00?01”'N, 73° 53?12”W, approximately 2feet' below the surface at lower low water. This area will be unmarked. - Bay Ridge Flats, project position is 40° 39? 59”„N, 74° 01?30”5'W, approximately 10feet below the surface at lower low water. A lighted mooring buoy with a white flashing light attached to a 3 feet tall mushroom anchor will be in the research area. This project will last until December 31, 2013. Diving Ops, East River:
The Knight Life (42? x 22?) will be conducting diving operations about 200 yards off Stony Point in the East River (40.748478° -73.966393°). Work hours are Mon-Sat during slack water through May 24, 2013. The vessel will notify VTSNY on VHF CH 12 or at 718.354.4088, fifteen minutes before starting and upon completion of each diving operation.
