Canaveral Lock Restrictions:
Summary of a Notice to Navigation Interests, USACE Jacksonville, August 31, 2012: The Canaveral Lock (28.408777°-80.637077°) is in need of repair, a contract is expected to be awarded soon and construction is expected to begin in October, 2012 and continue for approximately 6 months. Beginning in October, 2012 when construction begins, the Canaveral Lock is scheduled to open for vessel passage only between 6:00 am - 7:00 am, and 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Monday-Friday. There will be no lock restrictions on weekends. Any vessel that needs greater than 45 feet horizontal clearance will need to be scheduled for passage 7 days in advance with the lockmaster, regardless of the weekday or weekend. Coastal Waters from Little River, South Carolina to Panama City, Florida
Brunswick, GA Dredging:
Marinex Construction, Inc will commence dredging operations in the vicinity of East river, Brunswick Harbor (31.136807° -81.497487°), Brunswick GA. On or about September 25, 2012. The Dredge “SAVANNAH” will continue on a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week basis until approximately November 10, 2012. The dredge will monitor VHF channels 13 & 16. Dredge operations will extend from Andrews Island Spit LB A (LLNR 6280) East River Entrance to Brunswick Harbor Front Range. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting these areas. St. Johns River Construction:
Brance Diversified will be moving equipment and supplies back and forth from Cemex Facility to Bartram Island at (30 23’ 48.58”N/81 34’ 40.17”W). Beginning on or about October 8 until approximately March 1, 2013 there will be a push boat “Renée” 26’x14’, and a barge MB 606 128’x 38’. The hours of operations will be daylight hours only Monday-Friday anywhere from 7:00am to 5:00pm. The POC for the project is Mr. David May further information call (904)742-7562. St. Augustine Inlet AICW Dredging:
Southwind Construction Corp, will commence dredging operations in the Intracoastal Waterway, Cuts SJ-28, SJ-28A, SJ-29 & SJ-29A St. Augustine (29.908334° -81.297419°), St. Johns County, Florida on August 24, 2012. The dredge WILKO and workboats: Miss Leanne and Proud Mary will monitor VHF-FM channels 13 & 16 working channel 78. Operations will be 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The approximate completion date is November 1, 2012. Land POC’s Mr. David Lynn (Foreman) Cell: 812-455-1770 and Mr. Richard Lassen (CQC Manager) Cell: 812-480-1740. There will be submerged and floating pipeline associated with dredging operation; use extreme caution in the area. Mariners are urged to transit at the slowest safe speed to minimize wake, and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. Pipeline and vessels will be visibly lighted and marked according to Coast Guard regulations. Submerged pipeline will be positioned in the vicinity of St. Augustine, Inlet traversing southerly along Salt Run to the designated beach fill placement site immediately adjacent to Anastasia State Park. Cape Canaveral Dredging:
Norfolk Dredging Company will commence dredging operations on or about September 22, 2012. The dredging operations will be performed near Cape Canaveral, Florida. The project will consist of dredging the west Turning Basin and various berths at Cape Canaveral. Scows will be towed from the jobsite to the Ocean Disposal Area (center of disposal area) 28 18 44N 080 31 00W (NAD 83). The dredge “ATLANTIC” will monitor VHF-FM channels 13 and 16. Vessel traffic should call 30 minutes prior to expected time of passage. Barges are held in place by cables attached to the anchors some distance away from the equipment mariners are advised to stay clear of the dredge, barges, derricks and operating wires about the dredge. Operations will be 24 hours per day 7 days per week with an approximate complete date of August 1, 2013. Further information contact Norfolk Dredging Company at (757) 547-9391. Okeechobee Waterway Update:
On October 10, 2012 at 2400 hours the lake level was reported at 15.92 feet and the navigational depths were reported at 9.86 feet for Route 1 (26°58'32.23"N, 80°38'22.92"W) and 8.06 feet for Route 2 (Rim Route) (26°47'0.61"N, 26°47'0.61"N).

Okeechobee Waterway Construction Restrictions Update:
Odebrecht Construction, Inc. will be replacing two culverts along the Okeechobee Waterway near Moore Haven (Culverts 1 and 1A) as part of the overall Herbert Hoover Dike Rehabilitation Project sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Construction consists of the steel and earthen cofferdams on both the lakeside and landside of the dike to create a self contained work area. The waterway will be restricted and may be intermittently obstructed during the installation and removal of the cofferdams and during the process of replacing the culverts. Recreational and commercial boaters are asked to use caution and be prepared to stop when navigating through this section of the waterway between the Alvin L Ward park (26.839980°-81.082719°) boat ramps and Uncle Joe's Fish Camp boat ramps. Flagmen will be present as needed to signal vessels to stop or to proceed with caution. The controlling width through Culvert 1A project area is 20ft minimum, limited by a controlling depth of 6ft when the lake is at elevation +11.0ft Mean Sea Level. Once the culvert replacements are complete, the cofferdams will be removed and waterway restored. Construction will occur 5 to 6 days a week, with the possibility of night time work. Keys Markers Destroyed:
Key Largo Daybeacon 29 (LLNR 11495) (25-14-17.477N, 080-17-00.777W) is destroyed with 3ft of the steel pile remaining above the waterline. A temporary lighted buoy "WR29" with Fl Q G, 5M characteristics is marking the remains. Mariners are advised to transit the area with extreme caution. (7th District LNM 41)
Bahia Honda Key Light 49A (LLNR 13875) (24-37-29.946N, 081-14-08.442W) is destroyed with 2-3ft of steel piles remaining above the waterline. A temporary lighted buoy with Fl Q G characteristics is marking the remains of the aid. Mariners are advised to transit the area with extreme caution. (7th District LNM 41)
Dredging in Matanzas Pass:
Maintenance dredging (12 ft. Project Depth) is taking place in Mantanzas Pass (26.459365° -81.960887°), Ft. Meyers Beach, for 90 days starting on Oct. 5, 2012. The USACE POC is Jose Bilboa, 904 232 1883. (Summary of Oct. 5 Notice to navigation Interests, USACE Jacksonville)
SW Florida Marker Destroyed:
Siesta Key-Tampa Bay Light 16(LLNR 58675) (27-23-32.277N, 082-35-51.875W) is destroyed with the remains exposed above the waterline. Mariners are advised to exercise extreme caution when transiting the area. (7th District LNM 41)
Florida Bridge Update: From the USCG 7th District LNM 41/2012:
NOTE: Information new with this alert is in bold. There are many on-going projects lasting sometimes for years. You can “Search” a bridge name for previous East Coast Alerts that may contain information that is still current. Bridges that have vertical height reduced (or other severe restriction) will remain on this list until the restriction is removed.
Amelia River RR Swing Bridge (AICW Mile 721.1): DB Marine Construction has started repairs to the Amelia River Swingbridge (30.628700° -81.484451°) fender system across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 721.1, Fernandina Beach, Florida. The contractor will have a small work platform in the waterway which may restrict 20 ft of the channel. Vessels requiring a full channel opening should contact the on-scene tug or VHF-FM channel 13 or 16 one hour in advance to allow time to remove the platform from the channel. Mariners are requested to maintain minimum wake/slow speed through the area for the safety of the workers. This work is anticipated to be completed by November 30, 2012. Additional channel restrictions/closures will be published in future Local Notice to Mariners.
Amelia River SR A1A Bridge (AICW Mile 721) Update: The Coast Guard Bridge Branch has approved a vertical clearance reduction of four foot reducing the vertical clearance to 61 feet for one half of the navigable channel at the SR A1A Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 721.0 (30.626304°-81.484527°), Fernandina Beach, Nassau County, Florida, from April 9, 2012 through March 15, 2013.
Dames Point Bridge: The Coast Guard has been advised that a conduit will be installed under the SR 9a/Dames Point Bridge (30.371393° -81.551980°) across Mills Cove, Jacksonville, Florida. This work is anticipated to start on November 1, 2012 and to be completed by February 1, 2013. This work is not expected to impact navigation.
SR 312 Bridge (AICW Mile 780.0): Update: SR 312 Bridge (29.862672° -81.309784°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 780.0, Lake City (this bridge is in St. Augustine), St John’s County, Florida.
The Coast Guard Bridge Branch has approved a vertical clearance reduction of four foot reducing the vertical clearance to 61 feet for one half of the navigable channel at the SR 312 Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 780.0, Lake City (St. Augustine), St John’s County, Florida, through August, 2013.
L. B. Knox Bridge (AICW Mile 816): Cline Construction has advise the Coast Guard that they anticipate starting work on the fender system replacement of the Highbridge Road (Leonard B. Knox) Bridge (29.407923° -81.101143°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 816, Volusia County, Florida on August 22, 2012. This work will consist of floating equipment in the waterway reducing the horizontal clearance to 46 feet between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and possibly a Saturday. The floating equipment can be moved from the channel with a one hour notice to the on-scene tug on VHF-FM channel 13 or 16 for vessels requiring more than 46 feet of horizontal clearance. This work is expected to be completed by November 30, 2012.
Broad Causeway Bridge (AICW Mile 1081.4): Seacoast Incorporated working for the Town of Bay Harbor will be rehabilitating the Broad Causeway (125th Street) Bridge (25.887207° -80.142448°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 1081.4, Bay Harbor Islands, Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Coast Guard has approved single-leaf operations with a three hour notice for a double-leaf opening at this location from September 17, 2012 through January 15, 2013. This work will be accomplished during daylight hours Monday through Friday; but the contractor has indicated that they may be working a few weekends.
Port of Miami Railroad Bridge: Due to extensive repairs to the Port of Miami Railroad Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Miami-Dade County, Florida, the bridge contractor, PCL Constructors Inc are beginning repair operations on the Port of Miami's FEC railroad bridge. The bridge is allowed to be in the down position when the Security Zone is not enforced and the Miami Main Channel is open for normal traffic. On days when the bridge is in the down position there will be 15 minute openings at 11:45 am, 1:45 pm, and 3:45pm.
Clearance gauges are also under repair and do not currently read properly. PCL will be monitoring Marine Channel 9. PCL POC - Adlai Jourdin (561) 253-6995. Starting September 23, 2012, - Port Miami FEC Railroad Bridge can remain closed daily from 11:00 p.m. until 9:00 a.m. from Sunday night through Friday morning until November 30th. The bridge can open given a one hour notice. You can contact the bridge via Channel 9 or the PCL POC - Adlai Jourdin (954) 520-5223.
If for any reason the Miami Main Channel Security Zone is in force during these dates, the bridge will not be allowed to remain closed. This work is expected to be completed in January 2013. (7th District LNM 40)

Fiber Optic Cable Laying Ops:
The cable ship CS RESPONDER (Call Sign: V7CY9) will be conducting fiber optic cable replacement in the following locations: General operational area bounded by the following coordinates:

Activity Period: October 10 – December 15, 2012 (24 Hour Operations) (5th District LNM 40)
The C.S. RESPONDER will be replacing a portion of an existing fiber optic telecommunications cable just offshore the Borough of Beach Haven, NJ, at a point beyond NJ State waters. Cable burial equipment will be towed on the seabed behind the vessel at an approximate speed of 1 knot. Following burial, cable shall be surface-laid on seabed at approximate speed of 5 knots as the vessel proceeds generally southeastward to a point just offshore Bermuda. Finally, the vessel shall recover the buried portion of the disused cable in U.S. waters to complete operations. Request all vessels maintain at least a 2nm CPA. Request all vessels keep trawls, dredges and other mobile bottom fishing gear at least 1nm from the vessel in order to avoid possible damage to the cable, the fishing gear and/or vessel. CS RESPONDER will be monitoring VHFFM channel 16. Chart: 12200. (5th District LNM 40)
Underwater Biological Survey off Indian River Inlet:
Mariners are advised that an underwater biological survey is scheduled to occur during October 22 through October 25, 2012. The US Environmental Protection Agency Research Vessel Lear will be on station approximately 26 NM east south east of Indian River Inlet during daylight hours throughout this period. The primary survey area is the EX USS Radford Artificial Reef located at 38° 30.850’N, latitude and 074° 30.656’W longitude and marked as an "Obstruction Fish Haven" on NOAA Chart 12214. This diving survey is dependent on weather conditions and the sea state offshore. Mariners are urged to maintain slow speeds in these areas, be on the lookout for slow-moving vessels, and anchored vessels and divers with associated markers and flags in the vicinity. Delaware River Bridge to Close for Lift Span Cable Replacement:
Mariners are advised that replacement of operating lift span cables will be performed at the Burlington-Bristol (vertical-lift) Bridge (40.081551° -74.869566°) on Route 413, at mile 117.8, across the Delaware River, between Burlington NJ and Bristol PA. To facilitate the replacement, the drawbridge will be closed to vessels, each day, beginning at 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. October 30, 2012 and November 1, 2012. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the operating regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 117.5 and 117.716. The drawbridge will be unable to open for vessels in the event of an emergency. The available vertical clearance in the closed position to vessels is approximately 62 feet, above mean high water. Vessels able to pass under the closed span may do so at anytime; mariners should adjust their transits accordingly and exercise caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM 39)
Francis Scott Key Bridge Underwater Inspections:
Mariners are advised that engineering consultants, on behalf of the Maryland Transportation Authority, will be performing underwater inspections at the I-695/Francis Scott Key Bridge (39.219044° -76.523871°), at mile 6.0, across Patapsco River, in Baltimore each day from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday from November 5 - 21, 2012. The actual onsite days will be dependent on the weather, channel conditions and the availability of the dive crew. A 25-foot vessel with an outboard motor will be used during the inspection process. Inspection personnel and equipment will be in proximity to the navigable channel, do not anticipate any disruption to marine traffic and will relocate upon request for passage from any waterborne vessels. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM 39) Note: This is one of many Maryland bridges undergoing underwater inspections within the next month or two. There are too many to list--this is the largest and most conspicuous bridge on the list. If you observe small boats near or adjacent to a bridge and a diver down flag (solid red flag with white diagonal stripe), slow down, watch your wake and proceed with caution. None of the operations were expected to disrupt marine traffic.
Baltimore Harbor Dredging:
Mariners are advised that the Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co.Clamshell Dredges “GL54” and “GL55” will be conducting mechanical dredging operations in the Baltimore Harbor and Channels federal navigation project, within the Brewerton Angle (39.180929° -76.447772°), Cutoff Angle, Tolchester Channel and Swan Point Reach, from 25 September through 20 December, 2012. The project will include two clamshell dredges, several scows, and various towing vessels. All equipment will be marked and lighted in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard Regulations. Dredged material will be transported to the Cox Creek and Poplar Island placement sites. Mariners are urged to transit the area at slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. Under no circumstances should mariners attempt to pass between the towing vessel and scow while they are underway, as the towing cable may not always be visible above the water. Mariners may contact the dredges or assisting tugs and vessels on VHF-FM channels 16, 13 and 10. (5th District LNM 41)
James River Lift Bridge Restrictions Update:
James River – US Route 17 (vertical-lift) Bridge (37.002651°-76.468869°) - Mariners are advised that the James River Bridge, across James River, at mile 5.0, will be closed to navigation every Friday, at 9 p.m. through 5 a.m., on Monday, from September 14, 2012 through December 10, 2012, vessel openings will be provided with a two-hour advance notice to the bridge tender. The bridge in the closed position provides 60 feet of vertical clearance at mean high water. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM 38).
More VIP Shoaling:
Shoaling to a depth of 2.0 feet MLW has been reported between Sinepuxent Bay Channel Buoy 29 (LLNR 5120) (38-12-24.421N, 075-11-10.678W) and Sinepuxent Bay Channel Daybeacon 35 (LLNR 5135). (5th District LNM 41)
Shoaling has been reported as follows:
A. Between Virginia Inside Passage Light 160 (LLNR 6145) (37-23-47.136N, 075-50-55.524W) and Virginia Inside Passage Daybeacon 161 (LLNR 6150) to a depth of 1.0 foot MLW.
B. Between Virginia Inside Passage Daybeacon 178 (LLNR 6205) (37-27-39.648N, 075-44-33.270W) and North Channel Junction Light NC (LLNR 6875) to a depth of less than 1.0 foot
C. Between Virginia Inside Passage Daybeacon 214 (LLNR 6350) (37-23-33.222N, 075-50-56.280W) and Virginia Inside Passage Lighted Buoy 226 (LLNR 6420) to a depth of less than 1.0 foot MLW.
D. Between Quinby Creek Lighted Buoy 9 (LLNR 6776) (37-31-54.786N, 075-43-20.988W) and Quinby Creek Light 13 (LLNR 6785) to a depth of 2.0 feet MLW. (5th District LNM 41)
Oregon Inlet Area Dredging:
The Dredge LEO will be conducting dredging operations in Walter Slough (35.791843° -75.566002°) from 09 October until 09 November, 2012. (5th District LNM 41)
The Dredge Richmond will be conducting dredging operations in the Silver Lake Entrance and Big Foot Slough between Big Foot Slough Channel Light 14BF(LLNR 29087) (35-09-30.268N, 076-00-50.843W) and Big Foot Slough Channel Buoy 9AA (LLNR 29057) and the entrance to Silver Lake. Dredging operations have been extended to 13 November, 2012. (5th District LNM 41)
Morehead City Railroad Bridge Temporary Schedule:
AIWW – Newport River – Carolina Coastal Railroad (lift) Bridge (34.720191° -76.693656°) – Final rule sent for signing by District Commander. Proposal would temporarily operate the bridge from 1 OCT 12 to 1 OCT 13, by maintaining the bridge in the open position to vessels from 0500 to 2030 and would only be closed for the passage of trains and to perform periodic maintenance; and need not open from 2030 to 0500, except with one optional opening at 0000 (midnight) for vessels providing advance notice before 1600 on the afternoon before the requested opening. NC AICW Bridge Work:
BRIDGE FENDER REPAIRS WILL BE IN PROGRESS FROM SEPTEMBER 12, 2012 UNTIL DECEMBER 12, 2012 ON THE NC 210 FIXED BRIDGE (34.498307° -77.429678°) AT MILE 253.3 ON THE ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY IN NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NORTH CAROLINA.
BRIDGE REHABILIATATION WILL BE IN PROGRESS FROM SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 UNTIL MAY 1, 2013 ON THE US 74/76 BASCULE BRIDGE (34.216103° -77.812750°) AT MILE 283.1 ON THE ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY IN WRIGHTVILLE BEACH, NORTH CAROLINA.
BRIDGE FENDER REPAIRS WILL BE IN PROGRESS FROM SEPTEMBER 12, 2012 UNTIL DECEMBER 12, 2012 ON THE ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY ON THE NC 133 FIXED BRIDGE (33.921750°-78.072500°) AT MILE 311.8 IN OAK ISLAND, NORTH CAROLINA AND THE NC 58 FIXED BRIDGE (34.672560° -77.065953°) AT MILE 226 IN EMERALD ISLE, NORTH CAROLINA.
For all of the above:
TO FACILITATE REPAIRS A CRANE BARGE WILL REDUCE THE AVAILABLE HORIZONTAL CLEARANCE IN THE NAVIGABLE CHANNEL FROM 90 FEET TO 50 FEET. A ONE HOUR ADVANCE NOTICE IS REQUIRED TO REMOVE THE BARGE FROM THE CHANNEL FOR VESSELS REQUIRING GREATER THAN 50 FEET HORIZONTAL CLEARANCE TO SAFELY NAVIGATE THROUGH THE BRIDGE. THE WORK SUPERVISOR CAN BE CONTACTED ON VHF-FM CHANNELS 13 OR 16 TO ARRANGE REMOVAL OF THE BARGE FROM THE CHANNEL.
MARINERS ARE URGED TO TRANSIT THE AREA WITH CAUTION AT SLOW NO WAKE SPEEDS. (5th District Bridge Branch)
Cape Fear River Memorial Bridge Closure (65 ft Vertical Closed Clearance): Mariners are advised that the Cape Fear River Memorial Bridge (34.227053° -77.952125°), across Cape Fear River, at mile 26.8, will be closed to navigation from 8 p.m. September 26, 2012 through 5:30 a.m. October 1, 2012, and again at 8 p.m. October 10, 2012 through 5:30 October 15, 2012 with no openings provided. The bridge in the closed position provides 65 feet of vertical clearance at mean high water. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM 38)

Coastal Waters from Eastport, Maine to Shrewsbury, New Jersey
Naval Exercises off Chatham, MA, Cape Cod:
From 25-30 October 2012, during daylight hours only, U.S. Navy submarines, surface vessels, and aircraft will be conducting underwater exercises in the North Atlantic Ocean east of Chatham, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Alternate test site, approximately 35 miles east of Chatham, Massachusetts:

Longitudes 069° 10.0’W to 069° 57.0’W
Mariners are requested to remain clear of these areas during Navy exercises and cooperate with patrolling U.S. Navy (and Navy-contracted) vessels and aircraft. Allen Harbor, RI, Dredging:
Dredging will be done in Allen Harbor (41.623734°-71.413609°) from October 15 - November 30, 2012. The hours of operation will be 7 days a week from 5:00 am - 10:00 pm. On scene will be dredge WILEY, Scow 1501, tug CO, push boat BONNIE & a skiff. The WILEY will be monitoring VHF-FM channel 16 & 18. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution in the area. North Kingston, RI, Dredging:
Dredging will be done in the Port of Davisville (41.612504° -71.403422°) from October 15 - November 30, 2012. The hours of operation will be 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. On scene will be Dredge 53 & LAYLA RENEE, scows GL-63 & GL-64, tug TRIDENT and survey vessel MIAMI RIVER. The dredge will be monitoring VHF-FM channels 16 & 13. Patchogue River, CT, Dredging:

Forge River, Long Island, Dredging:
Dredging is being done the entire length of the Forge River (40.778300° -72.812991°) from 7 October - 15 December 15, 2012. The hours of operations will be 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Oh scene will be dredge Scrod, tugs IKE, MIKE & NIXON and a barge that will be monitoring VHF-FM channel 65. (First District LNM 40)
Nav Aid Change Proposed for East River:
The Coast Guard is considering making the following change to Aids to Navigation:
CHANGE East River Deep Water Range Front Light (LLNR 27340) (40-41-58.200N, 073-59-59.400W) to a single point PEL light with a red, white and green sector.
DISESTABLISH East River Deep Water Rear Range (LLNR 27345).

Permanent Security Zone Proposed for UN:
The Coast Guard proposes to establish a permanent security zone on the waters of the East River (40.748478° -73.966393°) and Bronx Kill, in the vicinity of Randalls and Wards Islands, New York; revise the description of the Wall Street Heliport security zone on the East River, New York; and clarify the enforcement times and locations of the security zones that are located near the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan, New York, as set forth in 33 CFR 165.164(a)(4) and (a)(5). This action is necessary to protect visiting dignitaries and the Port of New York/New Jersey against terrorism, sabotage or other subversive acts and incidents of a similar nature during the dignitaries' visit to New York City. The zones are intended to restrict vessels from a portion of the East River and Bronx Kill when public officials are scheduled to arrive and depart the area. Persons or vessels would not be allowed to enter these security zones without permission from the Captain of the Port New York (COTP) or the COTP's designated on-scene representative. Hudson River Cruise Terminal Construction:
Construction operations will re-commence in the Hudson River approximately 400 feet northwest of Pier 92 (40.768420° -74.001158°). Trevcon Construction will have one 140’ x 50’ crane barge spudded down and one 90’ x 30’ material barge on site from approximately Oct 9 to Nov 16, 2012. Work hours are Mon-Sat, 0500-1800. During this time previously installed power cables will be located, sheeting and guide piles will be removed and the cofferdam will be backfilled. During non working hours, the unmanned construction platform will remain on site. The crane barge will not move on demand. Each vessel transiting in the vicinity of the work area is requested to do so at reduced speed to maintain maneuverability while minimizing the effects of wake and surge. Mariners are requested to contact the barge on Channel 13 to make any necessary passing arrangements. One emergency tug will be on site when cruise ships are arriving to, or departing from, Pier 92 south and Pier 90 north, at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. (First District LNM 40)
Hudson River, Edgewater NJ Construction:
Trevcon Construction will be removing a temporary cofferdam from the installation of a power cable. The work will be conducted in the vicinity of 40-48-35.3"N, 073-58-52.2"W, west of Anchorage Ground No. 19W, in charted shoal water. Work hours are Mon-Sat from 0500-1800 from Oct 8 to Dec 31, 2012. A 140’ x 50’ crane barge and 90’ x 30’ material scow will be on scene. The cofferdam will extend above the mud line until its removal. (First District LNM 41)
Hudson River Dredging:
Dutra Dredging is conducting maintenance dredging operations of the North Germantown Reach (42.158143° -73.892354°) on the Hudson River in the vicinity of New Baltimore, NY on a 24-hour / 7 days per week basis from Oct 2, 2012 to Dec 2, 2012. The Dredge Columbia and a mooring barge will be on scene. Additional vessels may be used as necessary. (First District LNM 40)
Arthur Kill, NJ, Dredging:
Dredging is being done Buckeye Perth Amboy Marine Terminal LLC until approximately October 27. 2012. The hours of operation will be 7 days a week from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm. On scene is the dredge DELAWARE BAY, tug PAUL ANDREW and hopper scow Witte 1803, Witte 1804, Witte 2001, Witte 2002, Witte 2003 & Witte 2004. (First District LNM 41)
Rockaway Inlet Dredging Update:
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company will have the Great Lakes 107 barge (60’ x 30’) anchored in (pa) 40-34-26”N, 073-54-10”W about 640 yards northwest of Rockaway Inlet Lighted Buoy 20 (LLNR 34270). A 30 inch diameter submerged pipeline will be installed between the barge and Plumb Beach. The Derrick Barge MOBRO 1221 (144’ x 48’), Tug Bayou Dawn (70’ x 23’), and a raft of 30” pipeline will be on scene and lit as required by 33 CFR 88.15. The submerged pipeline will cross Plumb Beach Channel. Work hours are 7 days per week during daylight hours. The barge will be manned 24 / 7 once pumping begins. (First District LNM 41)
