We are in Essex, CT. We left at 0600 this morning to a PERFECT morning - sun and calm seas - - just cold (not even 50 degrees). But we used the inside helm station, drank coffee, and read the cruising guides for the 8 hours we were on the water.

We just walked into Essex and it appears to be a very pretty town although we will come back tomorrow to explore it further. We plan to stay here two days and then move on to Mystic and then Block Island.

We anchored last night in Cockenoe Harbor near Westport, CT and found the tides to be 7'. There were places were we could have walked across when we anchored and then 5 hours later, powerboats were streaming across them. Weird compared to the Chesapeake Bay!
