Getting
to Know the Cruisers - May 21, 2001
If I never
see the Delaware Bay again, it will be too soon! Four hours (of the 10
1/2 hour trip) of pounding through 4' waves and 20 mph winds. Not my idea
(nor my stomach's idea) of fun! Brian, however, seemed to enjoy it. He's
warped, I tell you!
So, we are
anchored off Cape May near the Coast Guard station. Although the weather
doesn't look good all week, we are hoping to start up the New Jersey coast
on Wednesday, getting at least to Atlantic City. Cape May is a pretty
little town - - about a mile walk from the marinas which provides us with
some much needed exercise.
We are starting
to see, and talk on the VHF radio with, a lot of cruisers (both sailboats
and trawlers) heading north. The exchanging of information and friendship
is helpful and welcome, and we are bound to see many of these boats again
over the next few months.
