| May 17, 2001 Brian and I left Old House Cove on Saturday morning at 0745 and couldn't have asked for a prettier day! Neighbors saw us off and then, about 3 hours into the trip, we received a hail on the VHF radio - - Bob and Terri (and Scully and Skipper their Jack Russell Terriers) came along side of us in their sport fishing boat to say goodbye and to take pictures of us underway. It was a wonderful surprise! Our first destination was Lake Ogleton, just south of Annapolis. We stopped there to see our friends Stuart and Kathy. We had a great visit and dinner with them on Saturday night and then said farewell on Sunday morning. On Sunday afternoon, we were off to John and Ann's marina off of the Severn River, Annapolis. When John and Brian get together there's always something to be done, and in true fashion less than an hour after we docked we were helping John and Ann's son Chris hoist John up his sailboat's mast so that he could do some repairs and improvements. You couldn't pay me enough to go up there! John graciously offered his advice and assistance on installing a new, bigger and better alternator on the boat this week and it, a new battery combiner, and new volt meters were in and running well within two days. On Wednesday night, we went with John and Ann to the Annapolis Yacht Club for dinner and to watch the Wednesday evening sailboat races. And on Friday, we plan to head across the Chesapeake Bay, anchoring in the Sassafras River and then continuing north to the Bohemia River and the C&D Canal. Weather permitting, we should be in Cape May early next week. Jeri |
