Today we decided to stop pushing ourselves and the boat in order to get to Ibiza by June 4 to meet friends. We should have known better from past experience. It is dangerous and not much fun to set arbitrary deadlines and then risk bad weather, boat troubles and fatigue in the process of trying to meet those deadlines. One sailing friend told us: "Give visitors either a time or a place to meet you, but not both." Probably some of the best advice we have been given.

We feel a great sense of relief because we can relax our pace and a sense of excitement because we will leave the boat for the weekend and explore Barcelona with them instead. Another example of the joy of this life: the flexibility we have to change our minds, to stay longer or shorter in a place, and to take advantage of unexpected opportunities.
