Nantucket Open-House Cookbook,Cold Weather Cooking Posted by Lori Ross - Viewed 448 times Nantucket Open-House Cookbook and Cold Weather Cooking by Sarah Leah Chase Published in 1987 and 1990 respectively, these two cookbooks are my very favorites for entertaining year round. Open-House focuses on recipes for Spring and Summer, while Cold Weather Cooking satisfies Fall and Winter cravings. Each cookbook features hundreds of delicious, generally uncomplicated recipes, many of which may be prepared ahead for parties, buffets, and picnics. For years I have received kudos for serving Chase’s Country Pate with Beer and Fennel, White Bean and Goat Cheese Salad, Venetian Seafood Salad, Kielbasa Vinaigrette, Tortellini with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto and Cold Chinese Noodles at boating potlucks and parties. And, in Fall, when cruising is the best in the Chesapeake Bay, I am warmed by her Cold Weather recipes for soups and stews, creamed and roasted vegetables and rich rice and pasta dishes. Sadly, both books are now out of print, but available used from Amazon and Barnes and Noble used for starting at $10.00 each. |
