| Working
in the Gulf to reduce the amount of marine debris, we developed brightly colored
anti-littering posters and brochures with the "Stash Your Trash" message.
Designed for use by all waterfront user groups, these materials were well received by
boaters, marina operators, waterfront business owners, schools, and community and tourism
groups. This outreach work was supported by the EPA’s Gulf of Mexico Program and was
conducted in 1995-1997. Following
the success of the Gulf of Mexico marine anti-littering campaign, we have gained generous
support from the Norcross Foundation for the continuation of this project at a national
level. As a result, starting in 2001, we will have both 4 color posters and brochures available for
local groups to distribute in waterfront communities around the U.S.
