Installing Your Self-Contained Air Conditioning Unit

Once you have all the elements necessary for an effective air conditioning system, you are ready for the simple installation process. Be sure to mount the main compressor unit in a dry, easily-accessible location-do not place it in the bilge, engine room, or near other combustible vapor source. All fittings must be double hose clamped, and the hose should be routed slightly upward from the through-hull intake valve through the strainer and to the inlet side of the pump. Install the condensation drain downward to a sump or gray water holding tank, making sure there are no kinks or restrictions.

Mount air-supply grilles as high as possible, and keep ducts as short and straight as possible. When using the digital control, it is critical that the panel display is not located in direct sunlight or on an exterior bulkhead (i.e., outside the climate controlled area), since the air temperature sensor is located in the display panel.
