I'm looking to move from a Hunter 26 to an '85 Pearson 303 - can anyone with info on the 303 provide some input on what I should be looking for?  Of course I'll get a survey and such, just curious if there are any particular 'known' issues to look out for.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave:

I have a Pearson 31 vintage'87 so I'm not sure that these boats are close to one another. I've loved my Pearson that I bought 6 seasons ago. There a few things to look out for in the survey. My cabin top is made with a balsa core and is subject to water wicking and subsequent rot. Fortunately that hasn't happened to me yet. Also look for stress cracks in the deck where water can seep in and a biggie was the bedding on the toe rail. My first job was to take up my outside toe rail and rebed it. Also I rebedded my stantion bases.

Good luck, this is a big move up from a 26' Hunter. My move up was from a Contest 30 to this 31 - it's a VERY different boat.

Alan
