Well .....looks like it might be that I'm up first for a topic.

We own a Bristol 40 yawl ( Impunity ) which has tiller steering. Because of visibilty over the dodger & access to engine controls, I am tossing around the idea of converting to wheel. Does anyone know if this has been done & what (if any) problems there might be.

In Calif. several yachts converted to wheel steering back in the 80's.  I remember reading an article on how to do it but can't remember which pub.  Maybe Practical Sailor.  I think Edson also has a brochure on how to do that.  Try their web site.  A strong frame has to be built to stabilize the top of the post with strong stops to prevent the rudder from going too far.  Other considerations are alignment of sheaves and a strong way to mount them.
