We just returned from our second summer cruise on our 32' CC crowne (1997 vintage) In spite of gas prices we ran (round trip) more than 500 miles from Lake Erie to the "thumb" in Lake Huron and back. A lot of it at cruising speed (28-32 mph) - depending on Detroit and St Clair river currents.
Took our bikes and saw much of the various Michigan Ports of Call that we visited. Port Huron, Bell River, Harbor Beach and of course Algonac (Chris Craft's original home).
We saw the start of the Port Huron to Mackinac sail boat race and shared in the fun that sailboaters must have when competing on lake Huron. The parade out of the Black River to the starting line was impressive and the weather was great most of the time We never did learn who won the overall race, but there must have been more than 20 categories of boats competing - from 30' to 70' monohulls and catamarans. Any one know the outcome of the race or a link to the results??
If you get a chance don't miss this event next season.
