Greetings all.  Been catching up on reading after not being on for couple weeks.  Capt Mark good to see you back in action.

MAde a decision this week to keep Smile on the trailer tihs year and move to an outbuilding I have for storage.  1st mate going thru some health issues and just not in the cards to splash it this year.  Will have time to consider what projects might want to do and detail every inch.

Jim, I do have my micro shelf done and hope to install in next couple weeks and will put up pics of what I did.

Brad

Brad, I hope that all turns out well for you and yours.  Make a point of coming up to the Islands this year and I'll show you two some great scenery.

If you get a minute, I'd love to see what you built and hear

hey guys,
has anyone put a new set of gauges in their early 80's catalina ?  I have a 83 Catalina 251 that I would like to put a set of new Faria's in.

does anyone know what the signal for the fuel level is ? for instance 0-30 or 0-90 ohm ect.  ?

Guys, appreciate the well wishes.  We have a lot of people praying for us and helping out and know we will get through this.

Capt. Mark, I may jsut take you up on that offer this summer.  I had the pleasure to boat there few years back as know couple guys that kept thier boats at marina by the Chameugon hotel. One day I saw Madeline island, had lunch there, and leisurely cruise thru some of the lower islands on a 34' Avanti and next day saw all the islands including the sea caves outermost at 50-60 mph in a Donzi!  How far drive to your slip from Ironwood/Hurley?  For future refernce, are there any drystack operations by Washburn?

Brad

Hi Pure84gtt,

To keep it simple, I suggest buying the matching fuel level sender for your new fuel guage. If they don't make one, they will have specs to match up other sender mfg'rs. I think Steurt Warner is the OEM for you guages. Check out their website. The mechanical senders they make are 280 ohms. Frankly, I would stay with OEM guages- but that's just my opinion. I'm sure a new, differant look would be great too.

best, Roy

Captains,

 Hope all are doing ok,.

Smile-n-wave my thoughts and prayers are withyou and family

. My starter bendex went out last year before my injury, finally up and abt  had it reworked and I reinstalled it yesterday. Was hoping to go for a run but never made it .We had a lot of whale sightings here at FT.Story,Va Beach within 1 mile of the beaches. Some people got a little close and one small boat almost got a direct tail slap, the tale came out of the water abt 12 feet and it was only abt 8 foot from a 21' boat. Geeze  what people will do.

Been reading the fourm but sorry not much input from me in awhile

Brad, thoughts and prayers for your wife, I hope everything turns out ok.

Dewy, great to read posts from you! Bet you're glad you left the boat in the water this winter....61* up here on Long Island yesterday.

HH3-Jim...I know, I need to call, will try you today.

We were supposed to be in North Carolina this week but Capt Nick got sick the morning we were leaving, we still tried to go but only made it as far as Coney Island before having to turn around for home.  We were heading to Raleigh to check out colleges for my oldest, Andrew.  We will retry the trip when we have time again, probably late August.  Ended up cancelling my vacation days and work has been crazy busy (not necessarily a bad thing).  Will be resuming my part time job at West Marine in March.

Regarding the gauges and galleys...that is the great thing about these late 70's to mid 80's Catalinas...they can be restored to their original vintage style, restored to the classic Chris Craft style from 50-60+ years ago or restored to a more modern design...it all works and looks great!

Regarding the fuel gauge sender...I replaced mine with a universal fit (I think it was a Tempo brand) which had the necessary OHM range to work with the majority of popular gauges.  before installing in the tank, I connected the wiring and tested the float level and made sure the gauge responded accordingly.

Brad, Washburn is about 40 miles from the west side of Hurley and the marina is a full service marina.

Swallow tail, what year is your boat and where do you go boaiting?  I have a '82 281.  I have literally made this boat mine.  I have an intimate knoweldge of my 281 and may be have some answers for your questions.

Jim, I have a 15 gallon holding tank aft of the fuel cell.  I can relocate the tank easy enough.  It's a white poly tank that probalby cost less than $50 at any outlet place.

Jim,

Happy Birthday!

Is the Jabsco toilet the electric version?

We had one on the last boat an it was faultless. Our new boat has a Johnson electric type fitted and to be critical the bowel shape does not aid disposal of the contents (hope this is not too graphic).

The tank is also sited under the bunk that lifts up to the roof.

Mark,

We are in England and the boat is used on the Norfolk Broads. These are a series of rivers and small lakes (called Broads) linked together. The area is also covered with old WW2 airfields used by the USAF Mighty 8th Air Force, who were here during the war.

Lakenheath and Mildenhall still remain US bases.

The Swamp Buggies look quite amazing items.

Ian

Ian, congrats!

Capt MArk, when you say full service marina, do they offer dry stack or just slips?

H3, happy belated bday.  My tank is 20 gal and ahead of my fuel tank.  Ordered from tank depot.com

JiminFla, I posted up my micro shelf on the CC site.

Brad

Jim:   Sad and with sorrow, I offer my understanding and concern, your friend has Passed Away.  I understand your very real grief.

May you have comfort from knowing you gave your all.   Time will ease your sorrow, and great pain.   Knowingly, that never far from memory, will be your Friend.

My recent Loss, allows me to understand your sorrow.  My little poodle, Baby, is awaiting Frank.  May our two Friends play and run, across the Rainbow Bridge, together, Jim.

My prayers are for you, Jim.  Bless you for caring, and doing, so much for your Friend.

Dan
