For any one looking, I was in Falmouth, MA (Cape Cod South Shore, Buzzards Bay) and there is an 1988 F26PC for sale that looks outward to be in pretty darn good condition. They were closed (Sunday) so I could only walk around. It is listed at Fidlers Cove Marina and I thing it was Dudely Yacht sales. They have quite a few Tbirds in the Marina so they must do something right up there. Hope it helps someone wanting the finest.

Hello Everyone. Just found you folks recently. As my username states, I have a 1965 Formula 233 that I picked up back in 2001. She's off white top and hull, helm on port side, cockpit is the teak overlay over plywood, no kitchenette extras or really any seating besides two in the cockpit. Power is 2 110hp ib Volvo Pentas, installed in 1989. Also, she has stainless or aluminum rub rails, not rubber as in later models. Oh also, she's got twin headlights set in the hull on either side just under the bow, very cool. If one of you can tell me where to find the hull number, I can post that for you here as well.
She's for sale, in Minneapolis, MN. Unfortunately, soon after I bought her, I hit a bump in the road, my left leg was amputated due to a traumatic injury (lost my sense of balance and general mobility as well), so I'm really no longer comfortable trying to climb around her even out of the water.
I've got 26 pictures, taken with a point n shoot camera, but I don't know the first thing about how to post them here in the forum, but could email them as attachments to anyone interested. My email should be in the profile.
Been trying to sell her for a while in the Boat Trader, with a few nibbles, but noone really appreciating her for what she is. Wish I could offer her 'Free to good home', but I took out a loan to get her, and need just enough money to pay off the loan. Thanks in advance for any interest.
All the Best,
Erik J.

To anyone interested in this boat,
I have an original one page piece of literature from a January 1964 Magazine that is a great source of original Specifications, Details, Standard Equipment, etc. (By the way, the standard power was the twin 110 Volvos, as the '65 this guy has for sale has in it).
Price $7.985 F.O.B. Factory
(The BOAT, not the page LOL)
Anyone who needs this piece of literature, I can provide a copy.

Hello, 74 Formula 233,
I also would really like a copy of the literature on my 65 Formula 233, thanks.
Also, I am having real problems getting my pictures up on this site. I need someone who can help me with a Plan B, namely, I'll mail the disk to you, or someone else, along with return postage, if you'll post them up on this forum for everyone to see, and then mail the disk back to me.
Anyone willing to help me with this? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
All the Best,
Erik Jorgensen

74Formula233 - Hey Eric, I am going to look at a '73 233 this weekend in Warwick. I was hoping I could ask you a few questions, and get your opinion on the listing. Can you drop me an e-mail or pm? We were on a few of the same threads over at THT a while back.
Thanks.

Hello, everyone. Just an update on what's happening with my 65 233 Formula. Had some lookers, no takers yet. JohnMHat kindly offered to post 25 pics I had taken, and apparently he's posted them somewhere around here, though I don't know how I'd go about finding the link for them. Hope one of you can find them for me and connect them with this post.
Anyway, she's still for sale, for $2312.00 firm. I'd like to be able to offer 'best offer', heck, I'd love to be able to offer it 'free to good home', but the $2312 is needed to pay off the loan on it and get it released. I'm getting set to wrap it up in a 20' x 30' blue Walmart tarp; but I suppose I could rig up a big red bow if someone wants to stick it under the Christmas tree LOL. It was nice to hear about that 64 sales literature on her, and that the original engines were a pair of 110 Volvo Pentas, the same as she's carrying now, except that they were replaced in 1989. And that the price back in 64 was $7995. Considering you could get a nice car for half of that price back in 64 (I bought my first car in 1964, for $400., a 1956 2dr Mercury (not sure the model; she was the bathtub model, 2 tone paint job, a push button automatic shift, and a 312 V8 engine :-).
Anyway, I hope there's some interest among one of you, as she is a little big for my tastes, and awkward for me to climb around on, with my prosthetic leg. So let me know, and maybe we can do something before the snow starts flying up here. Whatever happens, it's been nice to find this forum, and be able to talk Formula boats with all of you.
All the Best, Erik Jorgensen

Final run of the season today, and at wide open throttle (WOT) I was topping out at around 3100 RPM. Is this about correct for a Mercruiser 888? I have the service manual but can't seem to find mention of desired operating range or the engine's power curve.
Also - my prop is in need of rebuilding and vibrates the boat slightly. This of course disapears as I speed up. However, after running it around for about 20 minutes today I noticed some water in the bilge. Is it possible that it's making its way past (I think this is what it's called) the transom seal under heavy vibration?
Thanks for any help. Is there ANYONE else out there with an F-20? Seems to be a lot of talk centered around 233's and up...

I have a couple of Mercruiser manuals that list WOT ranges between 4200 and 4800 for the engines covered. (3.0, 4.3, 5.0 & 5.7) However, these manuals do not cover the 888. 3100 sounds very low for WOT on a gas engine but my range of experience is limited. There are more than a few members out there who really know their stuff when it comes to engine performance. How about it guys!

Yes I have an F20, with the 470 Mercruiser which is the 4 cylinder / 170 hp. Your wot does seem a low for that engine, I know mine is about 4400-4600. As far as the water goes there are a number of places it sould be coming from, one thing to check is whether it is hot or cold water. This would determine if its from outside or if its fromyour cooling system. One common cooling leak is the sea water side of your heat exchanger if you have fresh water cooling. The ends of the heat exchanger are caps with rubber gaskets and are proned to leaking or it could be a number of hoses that could be leaking. The best thing is to just have someone run the boat while you just search around while running. You should have a removable engine box which would give you pretty good acces to the engine itself. Let us know how you make out.
Good Luck,
Butch

If I'm not mistaken, the Mercruiser 888 was a Ford 302 powerplant (2-Barrel Carb). In which case your max. RPM range is 3800-4200 RPMs.
If you're getting only 3100, you have either a simple prop problem (wrong size, pitch, or bad condition) or you have a more serious power or drive problem. I would not run it (under power) until you figure the problem out.

Sounds like your about right as far as dialed in. What speed are you getting at those rpm?

Resto continues on the F20. Got started on the new rubrail. I don't think anything I've done up to this point has made a bigger difference in how the boat looks. It will get a white centerpiece when it's all up.

Note: The lines are much straighter than they appear in the pictures.

White hull with single 502. B1 outdrive. 288 hours on the clock.
It has a "splash" of graphics on the side & subtle matching upholstery.
I can't get a pic right now but it is clean, no bottom paint & no dings.
