I just bought a Catalina 35 in Michigan that needs to be trucked to Illinois next spring. The transport company told me that the windshield will need to be removed for transport. Has anybody done this before and have any good ideas?

I believe we are talking about a 35 foot Catalina, with flybridge, right?  If so, then it MAY be an Oversize-Load.  Did they SAY, "SMALL WINDSCREEN", ON  FLYBRIDGE, OR FLYBRIDGE ITSELF, MUST BE REMOVED?   If transport company is saying the LOWER HELM (Salon) WINDSHIELD, then I don't understand why.  It would leave the salon open to the elements, unless covered.  Perhaps they are concern road-debris could damage windshield.  But I NEVER seen a boat commercially transported, on the highway, WITHOUT a windshield.  Just my thoughts.  Suggest, look for another transporter, for another opinion.

We on the CATALINA FORUM, under the Chris Craft listing, WELCOME you to join us!!  Look for CATALINA, under the list of manufacturers, click Catalina.  Can you Post photos, of your CC Cat 35?  We on the Catalina Forum LOVE PHOTO'S!!!

To get to our Forum:  Click POWERBOAT LINKS.  Then look down the list of boat manufacturers.  Click CHRIS CRAFT.  Then you will see, several listings, look for CATALINA OWNERS, and  you have arrived!!  WELCOME!!!!

All the transport companys told me that she needed to be 12'6" or less. If I am thinking this right...the bridge clearance is 10'8" and the draft is 2"10" which makes 13'6". Sound right?
